Abstract

Claims (9)
- 複合構成部品に三次元ランダム繊維配向を生じさせる方法であって、単向性の複合繊維テープ102の複数の幅狭フレーク304を型容器206に移すステップ702であって、複数の幅狭フレーク304は各々隣接する幅狭フレーク304との結合が解除され、前記複数の幅狭フレーク304のうちの少なくとも大部分は少なくとも6:1の縦横比を有するステップ702と、
前記複数の幅狭フレーク304を前記型容器206内で加熱するステップ706と、
前記複数の幅狭フレーク304を前記型容器206内で前記型容器206全体に圧縮して706、前記複合構成部品を作製するステップ
を含む方法。 - 前記単向性の複合繊維テープ102が単向性の熱可塑性テープを含み、
前記単向性の熱可塑性テープを6:1未満の縦横比を有する複数のフレーク104に切断するステップ802と、
前記複数のフレーク104を前記繊維の軸線に沿って破砕して804、前記複数の幅狭フレーク304を作製するステップ
をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の方法。 - 前記複数のフレーク104を前記繊維104の軸線に沿って破砕して、前記複数の幅狭フレーク304を作製するステップが、
前記複数のフレーク104のうちの大部分が少なくとも6:1の縦横比を含むまで前記複数のフレーク104を複数の細切刃504を有する混合装置502で混合して前記複数の幅狭フレーク304を作製するステップ804を含む、請求項2に記載の方法。 - 前記単向性の複合繊維テープ102が単向性の熱可塑性テープを含み、前記単向性の熱可塑性テープを複数の幅狭テープリボン602に細長く切り902、前記複数の幅狭テープリボン602をおおよそ等しい寸法属性を有する前記複数の幅狭フレーク304に切断する904ステップをさらに含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記単向性の複合繊維テープ102が単向性の熱可塑性テープを含み、前記単向性の熱可塑性テープを複数の幅狭テープリボン602に細長く切り902、前記複数の幅狭テープリボン602を複数の寸法属性を有する前記複数の幅狭フレーク304に切断する904ステップをさらに含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記縦横比が実質的に8:1を含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記複数の幅狭フレーク304の長さが約1/2インチであり、幅が1/16インチである、請求項6に記載の方法。
- 前記型容器206内で前記複数の幅狭フレーク304を圧縮した後に、前記複数の幅狭フレーク304の前記型容器206全体の配向が実質的に三次元ランダム繊維配向を含む、請求項1乃至7のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記単向性の複合繊維テープ102が、少なくとも一つのPEKK、PEI、PEEK、PPE、及びPPSの炭素繊維強化樹脂を含む、請求項1乃至8のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
