Abstract
Description
ポリオレフィンは、低密度ポリエチレン、中密度ポリエチレンおよびこれらの組み合わせから選択され;オリゴマー性ポリ(フェニレンエーテル)は、25℃のクロロホルム中で測定した固有粘度が0.01〜0.12dl/gであって、単官能性ポリ(2,6−ジメチル−4−フェニレンエーテル)、二官能性ポリ(2,6−ジメチル−4−フェニレンエーテル)およびこれらの組み合わせから選択され、相溶化剤は、ポリスチレン含有量がトリブロックコポリマーの質量に対して20〜60質量%であり、質量平均分子量が、ゲル透過クロマトグラフィで測定して50,000〜100,000原子質量単位のポリスチレン−ポリ(エチレン−ブチレン)−ポリスチレントリブロックコポリマーを含む実施形態1に記載の組成物。
オリゴマー性PPEとLDPE、MDPEまたはh−PPとのブレンドを調製した。組成物と特性を、それぞれ表2〜4に示す。オリゴマー性PPEは、投入量が例えば2.5〜5質量%では、成核剤として機能し得る。PPEは、有機充填剤として、ポリオレフィンの密度、曲げ弾性率および耐熱変形性に影響する。
MDPEは、5質量%および10質量%のオリゴマー性PPEとのブレンドにおいては、許容できる伸び特性を有するため、MDPEをポリオレフィンとして選択してさらに調査した。比較として、低流動性h−PPを選択した。機械的特性に及ぼす水素化スチレン−ブタジエン−スチレンブロックコポリマーの影響、難燃性に及ぼすオリゴマー性PPEの影響、およびポリオレフィン/オリゴマー性PPEブレンドの燃焼特性に及ぼすTSANの影響について評価した。MDPEと、SA120と、SEBSまたはTSANとのブレンドの組成および物性を表5に、MDPE、SA120およびSEBSブレンドの組成および物性を表6に、h−PPとSA120およびSEBSとのブレンドの組成及び物性を表7に示す。
水酸化マグネシウムや水酸化アルミニウムなどの金属水酸化物は、難燃性ポリオレフィン中で有効化させるためには50質量%以上という非常に高投入量で使用しなければならない。こうした高投入レベルでは、樹脂の機械的特性が犠牲となる。しかしながら、発明者らは、炭化を生じるオリゴマー性PPEの添加によって、同じ難燃性を達成するために必要な金属水酸化物難燃剤の量を低減できることを見出した。MDPEの可燃性に及ぼす水酸化マグネシウムの影響について、オリゴマー性PPEの存在下および不在下で評価した。ブレンドの組成及び物性を表8に示す。
SA120とSA90は、ポリオレフィン特性に対して同様の影響を及ぼす。ポリオレフィン特性に及ぼすPPE分子量の影響を表9のブレンドで評価した。具体的には、ゲル透過クロマトグラフィで測定した分子量が32,400amuのPPE0.33の影響を、分子量が6,300amuのSA120および分子量が2,600amuのSA90のそれらと比較した。
SA90またはSA120とのポリプロピレンブレンドにおけるSEBSゴムを含むものと含まないものとの毛細管せん断粘度を表10に示す。

- ポリオレフィン、オリゴマー性ポリ(フェニレンエーテル)および相溶化剤の合計質量に対して、
65〜97.5質量%の前記ポリオレフィンと;
25℃のクロロホルム中で測定した固有粘度が0.01〜0.15dl/gである2.5〜25質量%の前記オリゴマー性ポリ(フェニレンエーテル)と;
0〜10質量%の前記相溶化剤と、を含むことを特徴とする組成物。 - 前記オリゴマー性ポリ(フェニレンエーテル)の質量平均分子量は、ゲル透過クロマトグラフィで測定して、1,000〜10,000原子質量単位である請求項1に記載の組成物。
