Claims (10)
- 第1階調を有するテストデータを、画素を備える表示装置に提供するステップと、
前記テストデータに基づいて発光する前記画素の画素輝度を測定するステップと、
前記第1階調に基づいて設定された第1目標画素輝度より低い第2目標画素輝度及び前記画素の測定画素輝度に基づいて前記画素の補償階調を算出するステップと、
を含むことを特徴とする、表示装置の光学補償方法。 - 前記第1階調は前記表示装置で用いられる階調値のうちの最大階調値を有し、
前記第1目標画素輝度は前記画素の階調−輝度特性及び前記第1階調に基づいて決定され、
前記第2目標画素輝度は前記第1目標画素輝度よりB(但し、Bは整数)ニットだけ低く、
前記補償階調は前記画素が前記第2目標画素輝度を有して発光するようにする第2階調及び前記第1階調の間の階調差であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の表示装置の光学補償方法。 - 前記画素の補償階調を算出するステップは、
前記第2目標画素輝度と前記測定画素輝度との間の画素輝度誤差を算出するステップと、
前記第2目標画素輝度、前記画素輝度誤差、及び前記第1階調に基づいて前記補償階調を算出するステップと、を含み、
前記補償階調は前記画素輝度誤差に比例することを特徴とする、請求項2に記載の表示装置の光学補償方法。 - 前記補償階調を前記表示装置に備えられたメモリに格納するステップと、
前記第1階調及び前記第1目標画素輝度に基づいて前記表示装置に対する第2マルチタイムプログラミング(multi-time programming:MTP)を遂行するステップと、
をさらに含むことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の表示装置の光学補償方法。 - 前記第2マルチタイムプログラミングを遂行するステップは、
前記テストデータを前記表示装置に提供するステップと、
前記補償階調だけ第1階調を補償した第1補償階調に基づいて発光する前記画素の前記画素輝度を再測定するステップと、
再測定画素輝度と前記第1目標画素輝度との間の輝度差を算出するステップと、
前記輝度差が基準値を超過すれば、前記第1補償階調に対応する第1ガンマ電圧を変化させるステップと、
を含むことを特徴とする、請求項4に記載の表示装置の光学補償方法。 - 前記第2マルチタイムプログラミングを遂行するステップは、
前記輝度差が前記基準値より小さい時まで、前記テストデータを前記表示装置に提供するステップ乃至前記第1ガンマ電圧を変化させるステップを繰り返すステップと、
前記輝度差が前記基準値より小さい場合、前記変化された第1ガンマ電圧を格納するステップと、
をさらに含むことを特徴とする、請求項5に記載の表示装置の光学補償方法。 - 第1階調に基づいて設定された第1目標画素輝度より高い第3目標画素輝度及び前記第1階調に基づいて画素を備える表示装置に対する第1マルチタイムプログラミングを遂行するステップと、
前記第1階調を有するテストデータを前記表示装置に提供するステップと、
前記テストデータに基づいて発光する前記画素の画素輝度を測定するステップと、
前記第1目標画素輝度及び前記画素の測定画素輝度に基づいて前記画素の補償階調を算出するステップと、
を含むことを特徴とする、表示装置の光学補償方法。 - 前記第1階調は前記表示装置で用いられる階調値のうちの最大階調値を有し、
前記第1目標画素輝度は前記画素の階調−輝度特性及び前記第1階調に基づいて決定され、
前記第3目標画素輝度は前記第1目標画素輝度よりC(但し、Cは整数)ニットだけ高く、
前記補償階調は前記画素が前記第1階調に基づいて前記第1目標画素輝度を有して発光するように前記第1階調を補償することを特徴とする、請求項7に記載の表示装置の光学補償方法。 - 前記補償階調を前記表示装置に備えられたメモリに格納するステップをさらに含み、
前記画素の補償階調を算出するステップは、
前記第1目標画素輝度と前記測定画素輝度との間の画素輝度誤差を算出するステップと、
前記第1目標画素輝度、前記画素輝度誤差、及び前記第1階調に基づいて前記補償階調を算出するステップと、
を含むことを特徴とする、請求項8に記載の表示装置の光学補償方法。 - 画素を備える表示パネルと、
画素が入力データに含まれた第1階調に基づいて第1目標画素輝度を有して発光するように、前記第1階調を補償する補償階調を格納するメモリと、
ノーマルモード及び補償モードを含み、前記補償モードが選択された場合、前記補償階調に基づいて前記第1階調を補償した第1補償階調を生成するタイミング制御部と、
前記第1補償階調に基づいてデータ信号を生成するデータ駆動部と、
を含むことを特徴とする、表示装置。
