Abstract
【解決手段】シール材で固着された対向基板と素子基板との間に、液晶層を有するアクティブマトリクス型の液晶表示装置において、対向基板には少なくとも樹脂層が形成されており、前記樹脂層の端部は、外部雰囲気に露出しておらず、前記樹脂層と前記シール材とは、前記液晶表示装置の断面を見た際に少なくとも一部において重なりを有しており、前記樹脂層と前記シール材との間には非透湿性の層が形成されている液晶表示装置を提供する。

Description
本実施の形態における液晶表示装置のシール部分の断面図を図1(A)乃至(F)に示す。図1(A)乃至(F)では各々の右方が液晶表示装置の端部に当たり、左方が、液晶表示装置の内側に向かう方向である。
本発明の一態様に係る液晶表示装置として、パッシブマトリクス型の液晶表示装置、アクティブマトリクス型の液晶表示装置を提供することができる。本実施の形態は、本発明の一態様に係るアクティブマトリクス型の液晶表示装置の例を、図4を用いて説明する。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態1で説明した封止構造を有する液晶表示パネル、液晶表示モジュールの一例について説明する。本実施の形態ではトランジスタを用いて駆動回路の一部又は全体を、画素部と同じ基板上に一体形成した、液晶表示パネル、液晶表示モジュールについて説明するが、これに限られず、駆動回路はすべて外付けであっても良いし、すべて同一基板上に形成されていても良い。また、図示はされていないが、センサやタッチパネルを備えていても良い。例えば、共通電極として機能する第2の電極層446などを、タッチセンサ用の電極として使用することによって、インセル型タッチセンサを内蔵してもよい。
上記液晶表示装置を適用した電子機器として、例えば、テレビジョン装置(テレビ、またはテレビジョン受信機ともいう)、コンピュータ用などのモニタ、デジタルカメラ、デジタルビデオカメラ、デジタルフォトフレーム、携帯電話機(携帯電話、携帯電話装置ともいう)、携帯型ゲーム機、携帯情報端末、音響再生装置、パチンコ機などの大型ゲーム機などが挙げられる。これらの電子機器の具体例を以下に示す。

Claims (13)
- シール材で固着された対向基板と素子基板との間に、液晶層を有するアクティブマトリクス型の液晶表示装置において、
前記対向基板には少なくとも樹脂層が形成されており、
前記樹脂層の端部は、外部雰囲気に露出しておらず、
前記樹脂層と前記シール材とは、前記液晶表示装置の断面を見た際に少なくとも一部において重なりを有しており、
前記樹脂層と前記シール材との間には非透湿性の層が形成されている液晶表示装置。 - シール材で固着された対向基板と素子基板との間に、液晶層を有するアクティブマトリクス型の液晶表示装置において、
前記対向基板には少なくとも樹脂層が形成されており、
前記樹脂層は少なくとも一部が外部雰囲気に曝されており、
前記樹脂層と前記シール材とは、前記液晶表示装置の断面を見た際に少なくとも一部において重なりを有しており、
前記シール材及び液晶層と、前記樹脂層との間には非透湿性の層が形成されている液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1又は請求項2において、前記樹脂層は複数層からなる積層体である液晶表示装置。
- 請求項1乃至請求項3のいずれか一項において、前記非透湿性の層は透明酸化物導電体である液晶表示装置。
- シール材で固着された対向基板と素子基板との間に、液晶層を有するアクティブマトリクス型の液晶表示装置において、
前記対向基板には少なくとも樹脂層が複数層形成された積層体が形成されており、
前記複積層体は少なくとも一層が外部雰囲気に曝されており、その他の層は外部雰囲気に露出されておらず、
前記積層体の少なくとも一層と前記シール材とは、前記液晶表示装置の断面を見た際に少なくとも一部において重なりを有しており、
前記積層体のうち、外部雰囲気に露出している樹脂層と、
前記外部雰囲気に露出していない樹脂層、前記シール材及び前記液晶層と、の間には第1の非透湿性の層が設けられ、
前記外部雰囲気に露出していない樹脂層における前記シール材と重なっている部分と前記シール材との間には第2の非透湿性の層が設けられている液晶表示装置。 - 請求項5において、前記第2の非透湿性の層が透明酸化物導電体である液晶表示装置。
- 請求項5において、前記第1の非透湿性の層と前記第2の非透湿性の層が同じ層である液晶表示装置。
- 請求項3乃至請求項7のいずれか一項において、前記積層体における樹脂層は平坦化膜による層とブラックマトリクスによる層である液晶表示装置。
- 請求項1乃至請求項8のいずれか一項において、前記シール材が、前記対向基板における支持基板に接する部分を有する液晶表示装置。
- 請求項1乃至請求項9のいずれか一項において、
前記対向基板には透明導電膜が形成されており、
前記透明導電膜には、当該透明導電膜が形成されている面に達する、穴、スリット及び切れ目のいずれか一又は複数が存在し、
前記液晶層を構成する液晶材料が前記面に接する部分が存在する液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1乃至請求項10のいずれか一項において、前記シール材の幅は0.2mm以上1.5mm以下である液晶表示装置。
- 請求項1乃至3、請求項5乃至9及び請求項11のいずれか一項において、前記液晶表示装置の表示モードはIPSモードまたはFFSモードである液晶表示装置。
- 請求項1乃至請求項12のいずれか一項において、前記素子基板に形成されているトランジスタに酸化物半導体が用いられている液晶表示装置。
