Description
ポリビニルアルコール(PVA)フィルム(Kuraray Co.Ltd.製造、重合度:2400)を水洗槽、膨潤槽を経てI2とKIを含む水溶液で染着させた後、ホウ酸とKIを含む水溶液で5倍まで延伸して偏光子を製造した。このとき、I2濃度及び染着槽の温度は下記[表1]に示した通りである。また、偏光子の色相調整のために、補色工程のKI溶液の濃度を2〜4%水準に調整した。
上記製造例により製造された偏光板の透過率及び色相をスペクトロフォトメーター(Spectrophotometer、装備名:N&K)を利用して測定した。測定結果は下記[表1]に示した。また、図1には、ヨウ素濃度による偏光板の単体透過率(Ts)を示すグラフが示されている。

反射型液晶表示装置の表面に透過率が47%で、1/4位相差板の面内位相差値が130nmの円偏光板のサンプル2個を異なる方向に貼り合わせた後、色感を肉眼で比較測定した。図2には測定結果を示す写真が示されている。図2の(A)は偏光板吸収軸が液晶セルの液晶配向方向に対して90゜、1/4波長板の光軸が135゜の角度を有するように貼り合わせた場合の測定結果であり、(B)は偏光板吸収軸が液晶セルの液晶配向方向に対して45゜、1/4波長板の光軸が90゜の角度を有するように貼り合わせた場合の測定結果である。
反射型液晶表示装置の表面に、透過率と1/4位相差板の面内位相差値が異なる円偏光板のサンプルを貼り合わせた後、視認特性を肉眼で比較測定した。図3には測定結果を示す写真が示されている。図3において、最も左側のサンプル(A)は透過率が42%の偏光子に、1/4位相差板と1/2位相差板を貼り合わせた従来の円偏光板である。中間部分のサンプル(B1〜B3)は本発明の高透過偏光板を適用したもので、上から順に45%、46%、47%透過度を有する偏光子に、面内位相差値が130nmの1/4位相差板を付着した円偏光板である。最も右側のサンプル(C1〜C3)は上から順に45%、46%、47%透過度を有する偏光子に、面内位相差値が110nmの1/4位相差板が付着した円偏光板である。
Claims (11)
- 吸収軸が液晶セルの液晶配向方向に対して85゜〜95゜の角度を有し、CIE座標系において、色相a値が−1〜−0.6で、色相b値が0.3〜2.5である偏光素子を含む偏光板と、
光軸が液晶セルの液晶配向方向に対して130゜〜140゜の角度を有する1/4波長板を含む反射型液晶表示装置用円偏光板。 - 前記偏光素子はポリビニルアルコールフィルムからなる請求項1に記載の反射型液晶表示装置用円偏光板。
- 前記偏光素子は43〜47%の透過度を有する請求項1に記載の反射型液晶表示装置用円偏光板。
- 前記1/4波長板は一軸延伸フィルムである請求項1に記載の反射型液晶表示装置用円偏光板。
- 前記1/4波長板は550nm波長で、120〜170nmの面内位相差値を有する請求項4に記載の反射型液晶表示装置用円偏光板。
- 上部基板と、
前記上部基板と一定間隔を置いて対向配置される下部基板と、
前記上部基板と下部基板との間に介在される液晶セルと、
前記下部基板と液晶セルとの間または前記下部基板の下部に配置される反射板と、
前記上部基板の上部に配置される円偏光板と
を含み、
前記円偏光板は吸収軸が前記液晶セルの液晶配向方向に対して85゜〜95゜の角度を有し、CIE座標系において、色相a値が−1〜−0.6で、色相b値が0.3〜2.5である偏光素子を含む偏光板及び前記偏光板と前記上部基板との間に配置され、光軸が前記液晶セルの液晶配向方向に対して130゜〜140゜の角度を有する1/4波長板を含むことを特徴とする反射型液晶表示装置。 - 前記偏光素子はポリビニルアルコールフィルムからなる請求項6に記載の反射型液晶表示装置。
- 前記偏光素子は43〜47%の透過度を有する請求項6に記載の反射型液晶表示装置。
- 前記1/4波長板は一軸延伸フィルムである請求項6に記載の反射型液晶表示装置。
- 前記1/4波長板は550nm波長で、120〜170nmの面内位相差値を有する請求項9に記載の反射型液晶表示装置。
- 前記反射型液晶表示装置はIPSモードまたはECBモードである請求項6に記載の反射型液晶表示装置。
