Abstract
【解決手段】活性炭を用いた分極性電極3と、集電極1と、セパレータ2と、水系の電解液6とを、収容体7内に収容した電気二重層キャパシタにおいて、前記分極性電極3である活性炭と、鉄製の前記集電極1と、前記電解液6となる水酸化カリウム水溶液又は水酸化ナトリウム水溶液或いはこれらの混合物とを、収容体7内に密閉した。

Description
図1(A)は、電極部の構成を示す斜視図であり、(B)は、電気二重層キャパシタの構成を示す概念図である。電気二重層キャパシタは、平行又は略平行状態で対向する一対の板状の集電極1,1と、該一対の集電極1間に配置されたシート状のセパレータ2と、セパレータ2と一対の集電極1との間にそれぞれ介挿された一対のシート状の分極性電極3,3と、ボックス状に形成された一端面が開放された外装ケース(収容体)7と、電解液6と、外装ケース7の開放端側を密閉状態で閉塞して電解液等の漏れを防止する閉塞蓋8とを備えている。ちなみに、集電極1とセパレータ2と分極性電極3は隣接するもの同士が互いに密着状態で接しており、電極部を形成している。なお、積層した電極部を丸めて円筒型としても良い。
図2は、コンデンサを並列接続した例を示す電気二重層キャパシタの概念図である。同図に示す電気二重層キャパシタでは、外装ケース7内において、3枚以上(図示する例では5枚)の集電極1を、所定間隔を介して、互いが平行に対向するように重ね合せ方向に並べて収容し、隣接する集電極1,1間にセパレータ2を配置し、隣接するセパレータ2と集電極1との間に分極性電極3を充填状態で介在させ、該セパレータ2と集電極1とを、上述の手段により接着又は圧着させるとともに、外装ケース7内の電解液6に浸漬させている。
図3は、キャパシタユニットを直列接続した例を示す概念図である。同図に示す電気二重層キャパシタでは、図2に示す電気二重層キャパシタをキャパシタユニット4とし、このキャパシタユニット4を複数備え、該複数のキャパシタユニット4同士を隣接するもの同士で互いに連結して締着固定する連結具13と、複数のキャパシタユニットを直列的に接続する直列回路とを設けている。
図4は、電気二重層キャパシタの密閉手段を示した要部概念図である。同図に示す外装ケース7内に電極部及び電解液6を密閉する密閉手段として、パラフィン又はワックスエステル、具体的にはパラフィンを原料とする蝋燭の蝋(以下、単に蝋)を用いた。なお、該密閉手段に用いる材料は、耐アルカリ性を有し、所定の条件で流動性を有するとともに常温で固化し、電解液6と混ざらない材料であれば良い。

Claims (15)
- 活性炭を用いた分極性電極(3)と、集電極(1)と、セパレータ(2)と、水系の電解液(6)とを、収容体(7)内に収容した電気二重層キャパシタにおいて、前記分極性電極(3)である活性炭と、鉄製の前記集電極(1)と、前記電解液(6)となる水酸化カリウム水溶液又は水酸化ナトリウム水溶液或いはこれらの混合物とを、収容体(7)内に密閉した電気二重層キャパシタ。
- 繊維物質を炭化及び賦活することにより得られる活性炭を、分極性電極(3)として用いる請求項1に記載の電気二重層キャパシタ。
- 上記繊維物質が、セルロース繊維からなる請求項2に記載の電気二重層キャパシタ。
- 上記セルロース繊維が、木綿である請求項3に記載の電気二重層キャパシタ。
- 上記繊維物質が、シート状の不織布又は織布か、或いは綿状物質である請求項4に記載の電気二重層キャパシタ。
- 前記収容体(7)内の空気を排出することにより、収容体(7)内を低圧又は真空状態とした請求項1乃至5の何れかに記載の電気二重層キャパシタ。
- 前記収容体(7)内が、不活性ガス雰囲気となる請求項1乃至5の何れかに記載の電気二重層キャパシタ。
- 前記収容体(7)を、フレキシブルな袋体(21)で構成した請求項1乃至7の何れかに記載の電気二重層キャパシタ。
- 集電極(1)と電気的に接続された端子(22)を収容体(7)の内外で挿通させる挿通口(23)を前記収容体(7)に形成した請求項8に記載の電気二重層キャパシタ。
- 端子(22)が挿通された挿通口(23)の隙間をシールすることにより、収容体(7)を密閉した請求項9に記載の電気二重層キャパシタ。
- 収容体(7)内を電解液で満たした請求項1乃至5の何れかに記載の電気二重層キャパシタ。
- 収容体(7)に満たした電解液の液面に、該電解液に溶けない耐アルカリ性の材料からなる密閉層(10)を形成することにより、収容体(7)を密閉した請求項11に記載の電気二重層キャパシタ。
- 前記密閉層(10)を、パラフィン又は蝋によって構成した請求項12に記載の電気二重層キャパシタ。
- 密閉層(10)と収容体(7)との間に接着剤を介在させて両者を接着した請求項13に記載の電気二重層キャパシタ。
- 密閉層(10)の上面に前記接着剤の層を積層させてなる請求項14に記載の電気二重層キャパシタ。
