Abstract
【解決手段】 結晶粒子と、前記結晶粒子間を占める粒界を備えた圧電セラミックスであって、前記結晶粒子がペロブスカイト型構造のチタン酸バリウムおよび前記チタン酸バリウムに対して金属換算で0.04質量%以上0.20質量%以下のマンガンを含有しており、前記粒界にはBa4Ti12O27およびBa6Ti17O40から選ばれた少なくとも一つの化合物を含有する圧電セラミックス及びそれを用いた圧電素子。

Description
前記課題を解決するための液体吐出ヘッドは、上記の圧電素子を用いた液体吐出ヘッドである。
前記課題を解決するための超音波モータは、上記の圧電素子を用いた超音波モータである。
前記課題を解決するための塵埃除去装置は、上記の圧電素子を用いた塵埃除去装置である。
また、本発明は、前記圧電セラミックスを用いた圧電素子、液体吐出ヘッドおよび超音波モータを提供することができる。
図1(b)は液体吐出ヘッドの模式図である。液体吐出ヘッドは、吐出口105、個別液室102、個別液室102と吐出口105をつなぐ連通孔106、液室隔壁104、共通液室107、振動板103、圧電素子101を有する。図において圧電素子101は矩形状だが、その形状は、楕円形、円形、平行四辺形等の矩形以外でも良い。一般に、圧電セラミックス1012は個別液室102の形状に沿った形状となる。
原料として炭酸バリウム、酸化チタンおよび酸化マンガンを用い、BaとTiのモル比が1:1に、マンガンの添加量が、金属換算で酸化バリウムと酸化チタンの質量の和に対して0.12質量%になるように秤量し、混合した。混合した粉末を900℃から1100℃で2時間から5時間かけて仮焼した。

原料として炭酸バリウム、酸化チタンおよび酸化マンガンを用い、BaとTiのモル比が1:1に、マンガンの添加量が、金属換算で酸化バリウムと酸化チタンの質量の和に対して0.12質量%になるように秤量し、混合した。混合した粉末を900℃から1100℃で2時間から5時間かけて仮焼した。
得られた圧電セラミックスの結晶粒子および粒界の構造を、透過型電子顕微鏡(TEM)を用いて評価した。
A:Ba4Ti12O27のみを含有していた。
B:Ba6Ti17O40のみが含有していた。
C:Ba4Ti12O27とBa6Ti17O40を含有していた。
×:Ba4Ti12O27, Ba6Ti17O40のいずれの結晶構造も確認されなかったことをそれぞれ表わす。
○:粒界に含有される結晶中にMnが存在していた。
×:粒界に含有される結晶中にMnが存在していなかった。
粒界に含有されるBa4Ti12O27およびBa6Ti17O40から選ばれた少なくとも一つの化合物が占める割合(面積%)を示す。
SEMによる表面の像観察の結果、副粒子は結晶粒子と異なるコントラストで観察されることがわかった。前記のSEM観察による結果をもとに、前記粒界に含有されるBa4Ti12O27およびBa6Ti17O40から選ばれた少なくとも一つの化合物が、圧電セラミックス全体に対して占める割合を調べるために、以下の手法による解析を行った。すなわち、SEMによる前記圧電セラミックス表面の像観察を行い、前記結晶粒子部分と、前記副粒子の部分を両者のコントラストの違いを用いて二値化し、両者の面積を測定し
た。簡単のために、撮影したSEM像を10枚毎にまとめて面積を算出した。前記の解析を前記副粒子の前記圧電セラミックスにおける分布に対して十分広いと思われる領域について行った。上記解析により得られた副粒子の面積及び前記結晶粒子の面積の各々の合計を比較することによって、前記副粒子が前記圧電セラミックスに対する含有率を算出(面積%)した。
作製した圧電セラミックスの圧電特性を評価するために、金電極をDCスパッタリング法で圧電セラミックスの表裏両面に作製した。この電極付きのセラミックスを切断加工して、10mm×2.5mm×1mmの短冊状セラミックスを作製した。
実施例1と同じ圧電セラミックスを用いて、図1に示される液体吐出ヘッドを作製した。入力した電気信号に追随したインクの吐出が確認された。
実施例1と同じ圧電セラミックスを用いて、図2に示される超音波モータ作製した。交番電圧の印加に応じたモータの回転挙動が確認された。
実施例1と同じ圧電セラミックスを用いて、図3に示される塵埃除去装置を作製した。プラスチック製ビーズを散布し、交番電圧を印加したところ、良好な塵埃除去率が確認された。

Claims (12)
- 結晶粒子と、前記結晶粒子間を占める粒界を備えた圧電セラミックスであって、前記結晶粒子がペロブスカイト型構造のチタン酸バリウムおよび前記チタン酸バリウムに対して金属換算で0.04質量%以上0.20質量%以下のマンガンを含有しており、前記粒界にはBa4Ti12O27およびBa6Ti17O40から選ばれた少なくとも一つの化合物を含有することを特徴とする圧電セラミックス。
- 前記圧電セラミックスの表面または断面で観測した際の前記粒界に含有されるBa4Ti12O27およびBa6Ti17O40から選ばれた少なくとも一つの化合物が占める割合が、前記圧電セラミックスの表面または断面の全面積に対して0.05面積%以上1面積%以下であることを特徴とする請求項1記載の圧電セラミックス。
- 前記粒界がBa4Ti12O27またはBa6Ti17O40を含有し、前記Ba4Ti12O27またはBa6Ti17O40のいずれもがマンガンを含有することを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の圧電セラミックス。
- 前記粒界がBa4Ti12O27およびBa6Ti17O40を含有し、前記Ba4Ti12O27およびBa6Ti17O40がマンガンを含有することを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の圧電セラミックス。
- 前記Ba4Ti12O27に含まれるマンガンの含有割合が、Ba6Ti17O40に含まれるマンガンの含有割合より大きいことを特徴とする請求項4に記載の圧電セラミックス。
- 前記粒界に含有されるBa4Ti12O27およびBa6Ti17O40から選ばれた少なくとも一つの化合物に含有されるマンガンの含有量が、Ba4Ti12O27およびBa6Ti17O40から選ばれた少なくとも一つの化合物に対して金属換算で0.6質量%以上2.8質量%以下である請求項1乃至5のいずれかの項に記載圧電セラミックス。
- 金属換算で0.04質量%以上0.20質量%以下のマンガンを含有するチタン酸バリウム粒子にバインダーを加えて造粒粉を作製する工程と、前記造粒粉にBa4Ti12O27粒子およびBa6Ti17O40粒子から選ばれた少なくとも一つの化合物を添加した混合物を焼結処理する工程を少なくとも有することを特徴とする圧電セラミックスの製造方法。
- 金属換算で0.04質量%以上0.20質量%以下のマンガンを含有するチタン酸バリウム粒子にバインダーを加えて造粒粉を作製する工程と、前記造粒粉に平均粒径が100nm以下の酸化チタン粒子を添加した混合物を焼結処理する工程を少なくとも有することを特徴とする圧電セラミックスの製造方法。
- 第一の電極、圧電セラミックスおよび第二の電極を少なくとも有する圧電素子であって、前記圧電セラミックスが請求項1乃至6のいずれかに記載の圧電セラミックスであることを特徴とする圧電素子。
- 請求項9に記載の圧電素子を用いた液体吐出ヘッド。
- 請求項9に記載の圧電素子を用いた超音波モータ。
- 請求項9に記載の圧電素子を用いた塵埃除去装置。
