式(1)において、ρはセラミック粒子の密度であり、セラミック粒子が複合相を形成している場合は、各成分相の質量比に応じた各成分相の密度の加重平均を当該セラミック粒子の密度とする。また、BETはセラミック粒子のBET比表面積を意味する。
(接着剤の調製)
アルミナゾル−100(商品名、日産化学社製、Al2O3:10%)を90質量%と、チタン酸アルミニウムマグネシウムとアルミノシリケートガラスの複合相を持つ粉末(Al1.82Mg0.12Ti1.12O6.09−0.1SiO2)10質量%とを混合し、接着剤を調製した。この接着剤中の固形分質量比は、Al2O3:チタン酸アルミニムマグネシウムセラミックス粉末(Al1.82Mg0.12Ti1.12O6.09−0.1SiO2)=47:53であった。この接着剤を200℃で2時間乾燥して得られたセラミック粒子のBET比表面積を測定したところ、180m2/gであった。また、Al2TiO6の真密度は3.7g/cm3であり、ベーマイトの真密度は3.05g/cm3であることから、接着剤中のセラミック粒子の密度の平均値は3.36g/cm3である。上記BET比表面積と密度の平均値を用いて、上述の式(1)により計算したところ、セラミック粒子の比表面積径は10nmであった。なお、Al1.82Mg0.12Ti1.12O6.09−0.1SiO2の密度としてAl2TiO6の密度の値を用いた。
グリーンハニカム成形体を形成するために、チタン酸アルミニウムマグネシウムの原料粉末(Al2O3,TiO2,MgO)、SiO2、チタン酸アルミニウムマグネシウムとアルミナとアルミノシリケートガラスとの複合相をもつセラミックス粉末(仕込み時の組成式:41.4Al2O3−49.9TiO2−5.4MgO−3.3SiO2、式中の数値はモル比を表す。)、有機バインダ、潤滑剤、造孔剤、可塑剤、分散剤及び水(溶媒)を含む原料混合物を調製した。原料混合物中の各成分の含有量は下記の値に調整した。

Claims (4)
- 複数のセルがセル壁を隔てて長手方向に並設された柱状のチタン酸アルミニウム質ハニカム焼成体が、セラミック粒子を少なくとも含む接着剤層を介して複数個結束された構造を有する、チタン酸アルミニウム質ハニカム構造体。
- 前記接着剤層に含まれる前記セラミック粒子の30質量%以上がチタン酸アルミニウム粒子である、請求項1に記載のチタン酸アルミニウム質ハニカム構造体。
- 前記接着剤層に含まれる前記セラミック粒子の平均粒子径が0.2μm以下である、請求項1又は2に記載のチタン酸アルミニウム質ハニカム構造体。
- 前記接着剤層には無機繊維及びウィスカの少なくとも一方が更に含まれている、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載のチタン酸アルミニウム質ハニカム構造体。
