Claims (10)
- 排ガス後処理システムにおいて、
ウォールフロー型微粒子フィルタ、および
前記ウォールフロー型微粒子フィルタの上流に配置されたフロースルー型ハニカム基体であって、該フロースルー型ハニカム基体が入口面と出口面および該入口面と該出口面の間に延在する複数の縦方向壁を有し、該壁が、前記入口面と前記出口面の間に延在する複数の平行通路を画成し、前記フロースルー型ハニカム基体が、前記平行通路の第1の部分を含むフロースルー領域および該平行通路の第2の部分を含む流れ制御領域を有し、該平行通路の第1の部分が未施栓通路を含み、該平行通路の第2の部分が施栓通路を含み、該施栓通路の半径方向の栓密度が不均一であるフロースルー型ハニカム基体、
を備えたシステム。 - 前記流れ制御領域が、施栓通路と未施栓通路の組合せを含み、前記入口面に与えられた第1の流速分布を有する流れが、該第1の流速分布とは異なる第2の流速分布で前記出口面から流出するように前記基体を通る流れを調節することを特徴とする請求項1記載のシステム。
- 前記第2の流速分布が、該第2の流速分布の中心以外に位置するピーク流速を含むことを特徴とする請求項1記載のシステム。
- 前記フロースルー型ハニカム基体の総セル面積に対する施栓面積の比が45%未満であることを特徴とする請求項1記載のシステム。
- 前記ハニカム基体における栓の分布が、該ハニカム基体の図心区域に対して不均一であることを特徴とする請求項1記載のシステム。
- 内燃機関からの排気ガスを浄化する方法において、
施栓通路と未施栓通路の組合せおよび半径方向不均一なセル密度を有するフロースルー型ハニカム基体の入口面に排気ガスを向ける工程であって、前記排気ガスが、前記フロースルー型ハニカム基体に第1の流速分布で与えられ、該第1の流速分布とは異なる第2の流速分布で該フロースルー型ハニカム基体の出口面から流出するものである工程、および
前記第2の流速分布を有する前記排気ガスを、前記フロースルー型ハニカム基体と直列に配置されたウォールフロー型微粒子フィルタに通過させる工程、
を有してなる方法。 - フロースルー型ハニカム基体において、
入口面と出口面および該入口面と該出口面の間に延在する複数の縦方向壁を有するハニカム構造体であって、前記縦方向壁が、前記入口面と前記出口面の間に延在する複数の平行セル通路を画成し、半径方向不均一な施栓セル通路の密度を有し、少なくともある程度の未施栓通路を有するハニカム構造体、
を備えたフロースルー型ハニカム基体。 - 前記半径方向不均一な施栓セル通路の密度が前記ハニカム構造体の半径方向図心区域に対するものであり、セル通路の総数に対する前記施栓セル通路の比が45%以下であることを特徴とする請求項7記載のフロースルー型ハニカム基体。
- 前記半径方向不均一な密度が、半径方向心区域に隣接する比較的高い栓密度の領域から、前記ハニカム構造体の外周に隣接する比較的低い栓密度の領域まで変動することを特徴とする請求項7記載のフロースルー型ハニカム基体。
- 前記ハニカム構造体の周囲と半径方向図心区域の間に位置する中間領域をさらに含み、該中心領域の栓密度が、そこから半径方向内側と外側の領域よりも比較的低いことを特徴とする請求項7記載のフロースルー型ハニカム基体。
