Abstract
Description
本出願は、2006年6月15日出願の米国仮特許出願第60/804,908号の優先権を主張するものであり、同出願はその全体を本願明細書に参照用に取り込むものとする。
・それぞれ華氏約51度の温度で冷却空気を生成し、それぞれ毎分12,000立方フィートの流量(cfm)を有する20基(2000平方フィートに1基)の空調機器付きのデータセンター環境内の華氏72度の平均空気温度。
・各列構造内に配置された10基のコンピュータ筺体。
・4つの「低温通路」と、3つの「高温通路」(背面どうしを対向)と、を形成するよう構成された、各列10個、8列の筺体。
・低温通路は幅4フィート(二つの床面タイルの幅)であり、低温通路内には10枚の有孔床面タイルが存在する。
・各有孔床面タイルを流れる毎分320立方フィートの平均的気流体積。
・これにより、機器ラックに隣接する各冷気供給チャンバは、下位床面からまたは他の任意の冷気源または流入位置からそこに流入する毎分3200立法フィートを有するはずである。
・冷気供給チャンバ内へ流れる空気温度は、約51度である。
・冷却システムの稼働が、50%超削減される。
・圧縮機と冷却塔の使用もまた、低減されるはずである。
・高価な不動産を、最適容量に合わせて活用することができる。
・筺体に高密度設置に通常関連する熱問題を伴うことなく最大容量まで填め込む、すなわち「設置」することができる。
・最新の通信とデータ機器の稼働と冷却が出来ないはずの設備が、ここで熱による部品故障を伴うことなく最新の電子機器を活用できるはずである。
・使用可能時間信頼性に向けた根拠を提供することができ、あるいは不可能なはずの意思決定及び規模拡大案に対する根拠を提供することができる。増大したシステムの利用可能性と稼働性能は、本方法の活用に直接由来する。
Claims (35)
- 少なくとも1つの電子部品へ冷却空気を給送する略気密なエンクロージャと、
前記略気密なエンクロージャへ冷却空気を給送する手段と、
前記略気密なエンクロージャ内の少なくとも一つの電子部品への冷却空気流を制御する手段と、を備えることを特徴とする電子機器用冷却システム。 - 前記略気密なエンクロージャへ給送する前記冷却空気を生成する冷却装置をさらに備える、請求項1記載の冷却システム。
- 前記略気密なエンクロージャが、複数のフレーム部材と、前記フレーム部材に取り付けられる少なくとも1枚のパネルと、を備える、請求項1記載の冷却システム。
- 前記フレーム部材が迅速接続突起を備える、請求項3記載の冷却システム。
- 前記迅速接続突起が、前記冷却空気の漏洩を防ぐガスケットをさらに備える、請求項4記載の冷却システム。
- 前記略気密なエンクロージャへ冷却空気を給送する手段が、冷却空気給送用の空気溜りを備える、請求項1記載の冷却システム。
- 前記冷却空気給送用の空気溜りが、下位床面空気溜りと、少なくとも1つの有孔床面パネルと、を含む、請求項6記載の冷却システム。
- 前記冷却空気給送用の前記下位床面空気溜りが、下位床面空間全体のうち分離された部分を含む、請求項7記載の冷却システム。
- 前記冷却空気給送用の空気溜りが、前記略気密なエンクロージャの下部へ冷却空気を給送する、請求項6記載の冷却システム。
- 前記冷却空気給送用の空気溜りが、前記略気密なエンクロージャの頂部へ前記冷却空気を給送する、請求項6記載の冷却システム。
- 前記冷却空気流を制御する手段が、少なくとも1基のファンを含む、請求項1記載の冷却システム。
- 前記ファンが空調装置の送風機である、請求項10記載の冷却システム。
- 前記ファンが暖気チャンバからの排気ファンである、請求項10記載の冷却システム。
- 前記冷却空気流を制御する手段が複数の電子部品を備えており、前記電子部品はアレイに配置されると共に隣接する電子部品間に冷却空気流の流路を画成する、請求項1記載の冷却システム。
- 前記冷却空気流を制御する手段が、少なくとも1枚のブランクパネルを含む、請求項13記載の冷却システム。
- 前記電子部品のアレイがラック上に装着される、請求項13記載の冷却システム。
- 前記電子部品のアレイが、ラックを用いずに前記略気密なエンクロージャのフレーム部材に取り付けられる、請求項13記載の冷却システム。
- 前記冷却空気流を制御する手段が、少なくとも1つの電子部品の一方の側に冷却空気給送チャンバを備える、請求項1記載の冷却システム。
- 前記冷却空気流を制御する手段が、前記少なくとも1つの電子部品のもう一方に暖気チャンバをさらに備えており、前記冷却空気給送チャンバと、前記少なくとも1つの電子部品と、前記暖気チャンバと、が全て前記略気密なエンクロージャ内にある、請求項18記載の冷却システム。
- 前記冷却空気流を制御する手段が、前記暖気チャンバから排気する少なくとも1つのファンをさらに含む、請求項17記載の冷却システム。
- 前記略気密なエンクロージャへ人間と機器を進入及び退出させる少なくとも1つのアクセス方法をさらに備える、請求項1記載の冷却システム。
- 低減容積の内部冷却環境を画成すると共に、電子機器へ冷却空気を給送し、前記冷却空気と外部空気との混合をほぼ阻止するエンクロージャと、
前記低減容積の環境を流れる前記冷却空気の給送を制御する手段と、を備えることを特徴とする電子機器用の冷却システム。 - 前記エンクロージャが略気密である、請求項20記載の冷却システム。
- 前記エンクロージャへ前記冷却空気を給送する手段をさらに備える、請求項20記載の冷却システム。
- 空気冷却装置をさらに備える、請求項22記載の冷却システム。
- 前記低減容積冷却環境を流れる前記冷却空気の給送を制御する手段が、少なくとも1基のファンを備える、請求項20記載の冷却システム。
- 前記ファンが空調装置の送風機である、請求項24記載の冷却システム。
- 前記ファンが暖気チャンバからの排気ファンである、請求項24記載の冷却システム。
- 前記低減容積冷却環境を流れる前記冷却空気の給送を制御する手段複数の電子部品を備えており、前記電子部品はアレイに配置されると共に隣接する電子部品間に冷却空気流の流路を画成する、請求項20記載の冷却システム。
- 前記冷却空気流を制御する手段が、少なくとも1枚のブランクパネルをさらに備える、請求項27記載の冷却システム。
- 前記低減容積冷却環境を流れる前記冷却空気の給送を制御する手段が、前記電子機器の一方の側に冷却空気給送チャンバを備える、請求項20記載の冷却システム。
- 前記低減容積冷却環境を流れる前記冷却空気の給送を制御する手段が、前記電子機器のもう一方の側に暖気チャンバを備える、請求項31記載の冷却システム。
- 低減容積冷却環境を画成するエンクロージャを配設するステップと、
前記低減容積冷却環境へ冷却空気を給送するステップと、
前記電子機器の第1の側から該電子機器の第2の側にかけて差圧を発生させ、前記電子機器の表面を横切る冷却空気流を発生させるステップと、
前記低減容積冷却環境から前記電子機器への冷却空気の給送を制御するステップと、を含むことを特徴とする電子機器の冷却に用いるエネルギーの消費を低減する方法。 - 前記低減容積冷却環境へ給送する前記冷却空気流と外部空気の混合をほぼ阻止するステップをさらに含む、請求項33記載の方法。
- 冷却される前記電子機器の通常の動作を妨害することなく前記エンクロージャを設置するステップをさらに含む、請求項33記載の方法。
