Abstract
TFT基板にカラーフィルタ等の有機膜を設け、その上側に台座を形成する場合でも、TFT基板と対向基板との間隔を適正に維持することが可能な液晶表示装置を提供すること。
【解決手段】
TFT基板と、対向基板と、該TFT基板と該対向基板との間に液晶LCが挟持された液晶表示装置において、該対向基板には、該TFT基板側に突出した支柱SOCが形成され、該TFT基板上には、薄膜トランジスタと、該薄膜トランジスタを被覆する絶縁膜PAS1と、該絶縁膜上に配置された有機膜(カラーフィルタCF(G),CF(R))と、該有機膜の一部には共通電極を構成する透明電極CITOとが形成され、該透明電極の少なくとも一部には、共通電極補助線CRMを構成する金属膜とを有し、該透明電極上に配置された該金属膜の一部が、該支柱SOCに対応する台座PEDを形成していることを特徴とする。

Description
本発明の共通電極CTは、複数の画素領域に跨って、表示領域全面に平面上に広がる構成となっているが、図4で示されたように、スルーホールTHに重畳する部分には開口部を有している。また、低抵抗化を実現するため、ゲート信号線GLやドレイン信号線DLに重畳する位置に、金属膜からなる共通電極補助線CRMを形成している。
図5は、図2と同様に、TFT基板の一部を示す平面図である。図6は、図5の矢印A−A’における断面図である。図7は、図4と同様に、ゲート信号線GL周辺の共通電極CTの様子を示す図である。

Claims (5)
- TFT基板と、対向基板と、該TFT基板と該対向基板との間に液晶が挟持された液晶表示装置において、
該対向基板には、該TFT基板側に突出した支柱が形成され、
該TFT基板上には、薄膜トランジスタと、該薄膜トランジスタを被覆する絶縁膜と、該絶縁膜上に配置された有機膜と、該有機膜の一部には共通電極を構成する透明電極とが形成され、
該透明電極の少なくとも一部には、共通電極補助線を構成する金属膜とを有し、
該透明電極上に配置された該金属膜の一部が、該支柱に対応する台座を形成していることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置において、該有機膜はカラーフィルタであることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
- 請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置において、該対向基板上には、ブラックマトリクスが形成され、該支柱は、該ブラックマトリクスの形成領域内に含まれるよう配置されていることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
- 請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置において、該TFT基板にはゲート信号線が形成され、該共通電極補助線が該ゲート信号線に沿って配置され、該台座は、該共通電極補助線に設けられた開口部の内部に島状に配置される該金属膜であることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
- 請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置において、該TFT基板にはゲート信号線が形成され、該ゲート信号線の形成領域内に含まれるように該薄膜トランジスタのソース電極が設けられ、画素電極を構成する透明電極の一部が、該共通電極を構成する透明電極と該有機膜及び該絶縁膜を貫通するスルーホールを介して、該ソース電極に接続されることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
