Abstract
【解決手段】2枚1組で用いる基板2,3のうち少なくとも1枚が可撓性の基板であり、1組の基板2,3の間に電気により作動する部位4を有し、この電気により作動する部位4を第1のシール材5aで囲んだ表示装置1の製造方法であり、複数個の表示装置1を、それらの外部を温度20℃から30℃の範囲における弾性率が1×107Pa以下である第2のシール材5bで接着した1組の基板2,3中で作製する作製工程と、作製した後に複数個の表示装置1を個別に切断して製造する切断工程と、を含む。

Description
前記1組の基板の間に電気により作動する部位を有し、この電気により作動する部位を第1のシール材で囲んだ表示装置の製造方法であり、
複数個の前記表示装置を、それらの外部を温度20℃から30℃の範囲における弾性率が1×107Pa以下である第2のシール材で接着した前記1組の基板中で作製する作製工程と、
前記作製した後に前記複数個の前記表示装置を個別に切断して製造する切断工程と、
を含むことを特徴とする表示装置の製造方法である。
他方の前記基板上に前記第2のシール材を付与した後に、
2枚の前記基板を貼り合わせる工程を、
含むことを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項5の何れか1項に記載の表示装置の製造方法である。

シリンジに入れた液状の前記を押し出しながら塗布するディスペンサーを用いて行う工程を、

(実施例1)
厚さ0.2mm、大きさ300mm×300mmのポリエーテルスルホン製プラスチックフィルム(以下PESフィルムと略す)を基板として用意した。このPESフィルムは良好な可撓性を示した。このPESフィルム上に、スパッタリング法により厚さ100nmの二酸化珪素薄膜を成膜した(図4(a))。
次に、このPESフィルムの二酸化珪素薄膜面上に、厚さ150nmの酸化インジウム錫(以下、ITOと略す)を、メタルマスクを用いたスパッタリング法により、図6に示す10mm×10mmの作動エリアと端子エリアを有する電極パターンを、図4(b)及び図7に示す配置のように成膜した。
(実施例2)
第1のシール材として積水化学株式会社製液晶シール材「フォトレックS−WB」を用いず、特開平10−265547号公報に記載の材料を用いた以外は実施例1と同様にして、評価用の液晶表示装置を得た。工程中での基板の剥離はなかった。実施例1と同様にして電圧保持率を測定したところ、89.5%であった。その後、この液晶表示装置を60℃90%RHに制御した恒温恒湿槽に入れて480時間処理した後に再度電圧保持率の測定を行ったところ、電圧保持率は35%と低かった。
(比較例1)
第2のシール材を描画しない以外は実施例と同様にして、液晶のアニール処理およびシール材のポストベークまでを行った。次に切断を行ったところ、切断前の搬送工程において基板が剥離してしまう不良が発生した。

Claims (9)
- 2枚1組で用いる基板のうち少なくとも1枚が可撓性の基板であり、
前記1組の基板の間に電気により作動する部位を有し、この電気により作動する部位を第1のシール材で囲んだ表示装置の製造方法であり、
複数個の前記表示装置を、それらの外部を温度20℃から30℃の範囲における弾性率が1×107Pa以下である第2のシール材で接着した前記1組の基板中で作製する作製工程と、
前記作製した後に前記複数個の前記表示装置を個別に切断して製造する切断工程と、
を含むことを特徴とする表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記第1のシール材は、温度20℃から30℃の範囲における弾性率が1×108Pa以上であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記表示装置が液晶表示装置である請求項1又は請求項2に記載の表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記表示装置が有機EL表示装置である請求項1又は請求項2に記載の表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記表示装置が電気泳動式表示装置である請求項1又は請求項2に記載の表示装置の製造方法。
- 1枚の前記基板上に前記第1のシール材を付与し、
他方の前記基板上に前記第2のシール材を付与した後に、
2枚の前記基板を貼り合わせる工程を、
含むことを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項5の何れか1項に記載の表示装置の製造方法。 - 1枚の同一の前記基板上に前記第1のシール材と前記第2のシール材を付与した後に、
2枚の前記基板を貼り合わせる工程を、
含むことを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項5の何れか1項に記載の表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記第1のシール材を付与する際、
シリンジに入れた液状の第1のシール材を押し出しながら塗布するディスペンサーを用いて行う工程を、
含むことを特徴とする請求項6または請求項7に記載の表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記第2のシール材を付与する際、
