Abstract
【解決手段】陽極1と陰極2の間に、中間層3を介して積層された複数の有機発光層4を備えた有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子の製造方法に関する。中間層3を、有機発光層4の表面に電荷移動錯体または3.7eV以下の仕事関数を有する金属の層を形成する工程と、この層3aの表面に光透過性の金属酸化物を含有する層を蒸着により形成する工程と、この蒸着層3bの表面に光透過性金属酸化物の層をスパッタリングにより形成する工程で作製する。そして蒸着層3bの厚みと上記のスパッタリングにより形成したスパッタ層3cとの合計厚みを25〜50nmにすると共に、蒸着層3bの厚みをこの合計厚みの40〜90%にする。

Description
陽極1として、厚み110nm、幅5mm、シート抵抗約12Ω/□のITO膜が図2のパターンのように成膜された、0.7mm厚のガラス製の基板5を用意した。そしてまず、この基板5を、洗剤、イオン交換水、アセトンで各10分間超音波洗浄した後、IPA(イソプロピルアルコール)で蒸気洗浄して乾燥し、さらにUV/O3処理を施した。
Liの蒸着によって3.7eV以下の仕事関数を有する金属の層3aを1nmの膜厚に形成し、抵抗加熱蒸着によってMoO3を厚み10nmに成膜して蒸着層3bを形成し、スパッタリングによってITOとMoO3を質量比8:2で成膜して厚み20nmのスパッタ層3cを形成することで、中間層3を作製するようにした。また中間層3の上にホール注入層を形成せず、代わりにホール輸送層としてNPDを50nmの膜厚で形成するようにした。その他は実施例1と同様にして有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子を得た。
蒸着層3bを、EB蒸着によってITOを膜厚10nmに成膜して形成するようにした他は、実施例2と同様にして中間層3を作製した。その他は実施例2と同様にして有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子を得た。
蒸着層3bを、EB蒸着によってITOを膜厚20nmに成膜して形成し、スパッタ層3cを、ITOとMoO3を質量比8:2で厚み25nmに成膜して形成するようにした他は、実施例2と同様にして中間層3を作製した。そしてホール輸送層を30nmの膜厚のNPDで形成するようにした他は実施例2と同様にして有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子を得た。
スパッタ層3cを、ターゲットとしてITO上にMo金属ペレットを乗せたものを用い、O2の含有率40%の酸化性反応ガスの雰囲気下で、全圧1Paの条件でスパッタリングすることによって形成するようにした他は、実施例3と同様にして中間層3を作製した。その他は実施例3と同様にして有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子を得た。
実施例1と同様のITO膜(陽極1)を設けたガラス製の基板5の陽極1の上に、ホール注入層として、α−NPDとMoO3の共蒸着体(モル比1:1)を30nmの膜厚で蒸着し、この上にホール輸送層として、α−NPDを40nmの膜厚で蒸着した。
蒸着層3bを設けず、AlとLiとのモル比1:1の合金の層3aの上に、IZOをスパッタリングして膜厚30nmのスパッタ層3cを形成することによって、中間層3を作製するようにした他は、実施例1と同様にして、有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子を得た。
AlとLiとのモル比1:1の合金の層3aの上に、抵抗加熱蒸着で厚み30nmにITOを成膜して蒸着層3bを形成し、スパッタ層3cを設けないようにして中間層3を作製するようにした他は、実施例1と同様にして、有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子を得た。
蒸着層3bを設けず、Liの金属層3aの上にAr雰囲気でスパッタリングして、ITOとMoO3を質量比で8:2とした厚み30nmのスパッタ層3cを形成するようにした他は実施例2と同様にして中間層3を形成し、その他は実施例2と同様にして有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子を得た。
Liの金属層3aの上に、EB蒸着でITOを5nmの膜厚に成膜して蒸着層3bを形成し、この蒸着膜3bの上にスパッタリングすることによってITOとMoO3を質量比8:2で成膜して厚み45nmのスパッタ層3cを形成するようにした他は、実施例2と同様にして中間層3を作製するようにした。そしてホール輸送層を厚み30nmのNPDで形成するようにした他は、実施例2と同様にして有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子を得た。

Claims (4)
- 陽極と陰極の間に、中間層を介して積層された複数の有機発光層を備えた有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子の製造方法であって、中間層を、有機発光層の表面に電荷移動錯体または3.7eV以下の仕事関数を有する金属の層を形成する工程と、この層の表面に光透過性の金属酸化物を含有する層を蒸着により形成する工程と、この蒸着層の表面に光透過性金属酸化物の層をスパッタリングにより形成する工程で作製し、蒸着層の厚みと上記のスパッタリングにより形成したスパッタ層との合計厚みを25〜50nmにすると共に、蒸着層の厚みをこの合計厚みの40〜90%にすることを特徴とする有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子の製造方法。
- 上記蒸着層が、両極性光透過性導電性金属酸化物を含有する層であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子の製造方法。
- 上記スパッタ層が、蒸着層と同一の両極性光透過性導電性金属を含有する層であることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子の製造方法。
- 上記のスパッタ層を形成するスパッタリングの工程が、酸化性気体を含有する雰囲気下で行われることを特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれか1項に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子の製造方法。
