Abstract
Description
本願は、2006年4月11に出願された米国仮特許出願第60/790,962号の利益を主張する。
本発明の一実施形態は、手の指またはスタイラスペン等によるユーザの接触に応えて、少なくとも2つの異なるフォースフィードバックまたは触振動フィードバック効果(集合的に、本明細書で「触覚的効果」と称される)を生成するタッチパネルである。第1の触覚的効果(例えば、振動)は、ユーザが基準キーを1つ以上見つけられるように提供され、第2の触覚的効果は、ユーザが基準キー以外の表面領域を見つけられるように提供される。1つ以上の基準キーの位置をユーザが確証することにより、周辺キー表面を見つけるための第2の触覚的効果から残りのキーが判断されてもよい。これは、少なくとも部分的に、残りのキーの位置に関するユーザの予備知識を利用して行われる。ユーザの知識は、一般的な数字キーパッドまたはQWERTYキーボード等の、周辺キーの標準配置に基づいてもよい。あるいはユーザの知識は、ユーザが習得した特定のデバイスの周辺キーの位置に基づいてもよい。結果として、キーボード/キーパッド/または他の触覚的に有効なタッチパネルは、ユーザが継続的に視線を表面に向けておく必要なく使用することができる。
Claims (23)
- タッチパネルを操作する方法であって、
前記タッチパネル上の接触を感知するステップと、
前記接触の位置を判断するステップと、
前記位置が前記タッチパネル上の基準キーである場合、第1の触覚的効果を生成するステップと、
前記位置が前記タッチパネル上の非基準キーである場合、第2の触覚的効果を生成するステップと、を含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記タッチパネルは、標準キーボードを備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記タッチパネルは、複数のキーを備え、
前記位置が前記複数のキー以外の前記タッチパネルの一部分である場合、第3の触覚的効果を生成するステップをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。 - 前記第1および第2の触覚的効果は、触振動覚的効果であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記接触が前記タッチパネル上の滑り接触を示す場合、第3の触覚的効果を生成するステップをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記位置を判断するステップは、前記接触位置のxおよびy座標を判断するステップをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記第2の触覚的効果および前記標準キーボードの知識に基づき、前記非基準キーの同一性を判断するステップをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の方法。
- キーボードを示す複数の図形を有する、タッチに敏感に反応する表面と、
前記タッチに敏感に反応する表面と連結するアクチュエータと、
前記アクチュエータと連結するコントローラと、を備えるタッチパネルであって、
前記キーボードは、基準キーおよび非基準キーを有し、前記コントローラは、前記基準キーが接触される際に第1の触覚的信号を生成し、前記非基準キーが接触される際に第2の触覚的信号を生成するように構成されることを特徴とするタッチパネル。 - 前記アクチュエータは、前記第1の触覚的信号に応えて第1の触覚的効果を生成し、前記第2の触覚的信号に応えて第2の触覚的効果を生成することを特徴とする請求項8に記載のタッチパネル。
- 前記タッチに敏感に反応する表面と連結する前記図形を生成するビデオ画面をさらに備えることを特徴とする請求項8に記載のタッチパネル。
- 前記キーボードは、標準QWERTYキーボードであることを特徴とする請求項8に記載のタッチパネル。
- 前記キーボードは、標準数字キーパッドであることを特徴とする請求項8に記載のタッチパネル。
- 前記アクチュエータは、振動生成デバイスを備えることを特徴とする請求項8に記載のタッチパネル。
- 記憶される命令を有するコンピュータ読取可能な媒体であって、プロセッサによって実行される際、プロセッサに
タッチパネル上のタッチを感知させ、
前記タッチの位置を判断させ、
前記位置が前記タッチパネル上の基準キーである場合、第1の触覚的効果を生成させ、
前記位置が前記タッチパネル上の非基準キーである場合、第2の触覚的効果を生成させることを特徴とするコンピュータ読取可能な媒体。 - 前記タッチパネルは、標準キーボードを備えることを特徴とする請求項14に記載のコンピュータ読取可能な媒体。
- 前記タッチパネルは、複数のキーを含み、前記命令は、さらにプロセッサに
前記位置が前記複数のキー以外の前記タッチパネルの一部分である場合、第3の触覚的効果を生成させることを特徴とする請求項14に記載のコンピュータ読取可能な媒体。 - 前記第1および第2の触覚的効果は、触振動覚的効果であることを特徴とする請求項14に記載のコンピュータ読取可能な媒体。
- 前記命令は、さらにプロセッサに

前記ユーザが前記タッチパネルの基準キーを選択しているかどうかを判断するステップと、
前記基準キーが選択されている場合、第1の触覚的効果を生成するステップと、を含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記ユーザが前記タッチパネルの非基準キーを選択しているかどうかを判断するステップと、
前記非基準キーが選択されている場合、第1の触覚的効果を生成するステップと、をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項19に記載の方法。 - 前記第1の触覚的効果および前記第2の触覚的効果は、触振動覚的効果であることを特徴とする請求項20に記載の方法。
- 前記タッチパネルは、標準キーボードを備えることを特徴とする請求項20に記載の方法。
- 前記第2の触覚的効果および前記標準キーボードの知識に基づき、前記非基準キーの同一性を判断するステップをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項22に記載の方法。
