Description
本発明は、胃制限システムを実施する方法および装置に関する。本発明は特に、胃制限システムのセンサーを始動させる方法および装置に関する。
肥満の人々の数が増加し続けるにつれて、特に米国では、肥満への関心は日々高まっており、肥満がもたらす健康への悪影響がますます分かってきている。人の体重が理想体重よりも約45.4キログラム(100ポンド)以上であるような病的肥満は、特に、深刻な健康被害を引き起こす危険性が高い。従って、肥満患者を治療することに非常に多くの注目が集まっている。病的肥満を治療する1つの方法として、細長いバンド等の制限装置が胃の上部あたりに配置されてきた。胃バンドは、典型的には、固定端点を備えた、液体で満たされる弾性バルーンを含み、バルーンは、食道と胃の接合部から少し下方の胃を取り囲み、胃バンドの上方に小胃嚢と、胃の中に縮小された小孔開口部とを形成する。流体がバルーンに注入されると、バンドが胃に対して膨張し、胃の中に食物摂取量制限部(food intake restriction)または小孔(stoma)を形成する。この制限部は、流体がバンドから除去されることで縮小される。バンドには、使用可能な胃容量を減少させて、「満腹」になる前に摂取され得る食物の量を減少させる効果がある。

(29)植え込み可能なセンサーを活性化させる方法において、
調節可能な胃制限装置と通信する、植え込み可能なセンサーを準備することであって、前記センサーは、休眠電力消費モードと、前記調節可能な胃制限装置の動作に関するデータを収集し、かつ送信するための使用モードと、の間で選択的に構成される、植え込み可能なセンサーを準備することと、
前記センサーを前記休眠電力消費モードから前記使用モードに活性化するために、選択された刺激に応答して前記センサーを始動させることと、
を備える、方法。
(30)実施態様(29)に記載された方法において、
前記選択された刺激は、選択された大きさの胃部pH変化、前記制限システム内の選択された大きさの圧力変化、および、前記制限システム内の選択された大きさまたは頻度の温度変化を含む群から選択される、方法。
前記センサーを始動させることは、前記制限システム内に配置された磁気センサーを少なくとも1つの磁場にさらし、これによって、前記トリガー機構を稼動させることを含む、方法。

Claims (10)
- 患者に制限部を形成する制限システムにおいて、
植え込み可能な制限装置であって、調節可能であり、かつ患者の体内に制限部を形成するように構成されている、植え込み可能な制限装置と、
前記制限装置と通信している植え込み可能なセンサーであって、休眠電力消費モードに初期設定されており、かつ、トリガー機構を有しており、前記トリガー機構は、トリガー事象の発生時に前記センサーを使用モードに設定するように構成されている、植え込み可能なセンサーと、
を備える、システム。 - 請求項1に記載された制限システムにおいて、
植え込み可能なポート、
をさらに備え、
前記植え込み可能なポートは、前記植え込み可能な制限装置と流体連通しており、前記患者の体外にある流体源から流体を受け取るように構成されている、システム。 - 請求項2に記載された制限システムにおいて、
前記植え込み可能なセンサーは、前記植え込み可能なポートと統合されている、システム。 - 請求項2に記載された制限システムにおいて、
前記トリガー機構は、前記植え込み可能なセンサーまたは前記植え込み可能なポートのどちらか一方に形成されている、システム。 - 請求項1に記載された制限システムにおいて、
前記休眠電力消費モードは、約1Hz以下の動作周波数を有する、システム。 - 請求項1に記載された制限システムにおいて、
前記使用モードは、約2Hz〜20Hzの範囲の動作周波数を有する、システム。 - 請求項1に記載された制限システムにおいて、
前記トリガー機構は、少なくとも1つの胃部pHセンサーを備えており、
前記トリガー事象は、前記胃部pHセンサーによって検出される、選択された大きさの胃部pH変化である、システム。 - 請求項1に記載された制限システムにおいて、
前記トリガー機構は、少なくとも1つの圧力センサーを備えており、
前記トリガー事象は、前記圧力センサーによって検出される、選択された大きさの圧力変化である、システム。 - 請求項1に記載された制限システムにおいて、
前記トリガー機構は、柔軟膜を備えており、
前記トリガー事象は、前記柔軟膜を撓ませるのに有効である前記制限装置内の圧力上昇である、システム。 - 請求項9に記載された制限システムにおいて、
前記柔軟膜は、少なくとも部分的に導電性であり、
前記柔軟膜を撓ませることは、前記センサーを活性化させ、前記センサーを前記使用モードに設定するように電気回路を閉じるのに有効である、システム。
