Description
多くのビデオ圧縮規格、例えば、H.261,H.263,H.263+,MPEG−1,MPEG−2及びH.26Lでは、ブロックに基づく動き補償ビデオ符号化が用いられる。ブロックに基づく動き補償符号化は、画像圧縮技法を使用してブロック毎に画像ピクセルを符号化する。この画像圧縮技法は、通常、損失の大きい圧縮技法を用いるので、復号された画像内に画像アーティファクトと称される視覚的なアーティファクトの発生をもたらす。画像アーティファクトの1つのタイプは、ブロッキングアーティファクトであり、再構成された画像内のブロックの境界に沿って発生する。ブロッキングアーティファクトは、主に、ブロックの符号化に用いた変換係数の粗い量子化によって生じる。
従来のフィルタリングプロセスは、1度に1枚の再構成された画像フレームを検討する。ブロックに基づくビデオ画像符号化技法は、ピクセルブロックの動きを、動きベクトルを用いて推定する。動きベクトル情報は、符号化器及び復号器の双方で利用できるが、従来のフィルタリングプロセスでは使用しない。例えば、2つの隣接ブロックが、同一の参照画像フレームに関して同じ動きベクトルを共有すれば、(複数の参照フレームを備えたシステムにおいて)各ブロックの残りの画像間にはおそらく大きな差はないので、フィルタ処理をしてはならない。本来、画像の隣接部分は、同一参照フレームに対して同一の動きを有し、従って、画像残差間には有意の差は予測されない。多くの場合、これら2つの隣接ブロックの境界は、参照フレーム内においてフィルタ処理されているので、現フレームで再度フィルタ処理をしてはならない。この動きベクトル情報を考慮せずにデブロックフィルタを使用すると、従来のフィルタリングプロセスは同じ境界をフレーム毎に再度フィルタ処理することになる。この不必要なフィルタリングは、不必要なボケを生じるだけでなく、追加のフィルタ処理計算をする結果になる。
Claims (2)
- 再構成された画像内の、隣接する2つのブロック間の境界を選択的にフィルタリングする画像符号化装置であって、
前記再構成された画像を用い、符号化対象ブロック毎に動き補償予測を行なう動き補償予測手段と、
前記符号化対象ブロックのデータを直交変換する変換手段と、
前記フィルタリングの強度およびフィルタリングを行なうか否かを前記境界毎に判定する判定手段と備え、
前記判定手段は、
(1)前記隣接する2つのブロックの少なくとも一方がイントラ符号化されている場合に、第1の強度でフィルタリングを行い、
(2)前記隣接する2つのブロックの双方がイントラ符号化されておらず、かつ、前記隣接する2つのブロックの少なくとも一方で零でない変換係数が符号化されている場合に、前記第1の強度より強い第2の強度でフィルタリングを行い、
(3)前記隣接する2つのブロックの双方がイントラ符号化されておらず、前記隣接する2つのブロックの双方で零でない変換係数が符号化されておらず、前記隣接する2つのブロックが同一の参照フレームより予測されており、かつ、前記隣接する2つのブロックの動きベクトルの差の絶対値が所定の閾値より小さい場合に、フィルタリングを行わないと判定することを特徴とする画像符号化装置。 - 再構成された画像内の、隣接する2つのブロック間の境界を選択的にフィルタリングする画像復号装置であって、
前記再構成された画像を用い、復号対象ブロック毎に動き補償予測を行なう動き補償予測手段と、
前記復号対象ブロックのデータを逆直交変換する逆変換手段と、
前記フィルタリングの強度およびフィルタリングを行なうか否かを前記境界毎に判定する判定手段と備え、
前記判定手段は、
(1)前記隣接する2つのブロックの少なくとも一方がイントラ符号化されている場合に、第1の強度でフィルタリングを行い、
(2)前記隣接する2つのブロックの双方がイントラ符号化されておらず、かつ、前記隣接する2つのブロックの少なくとも一方で零でない変換係数が符号化されている場合に、前記第1の強度より強い第2の強度でフィルタリングを行い、
(3)前記隣接する2つのブロックの双方がイントラ符号化されておらず、前記隣接する2つのブロックの双方で零でない変換係数が符号化されておらず、前記隣接する2つのブロックが同一の参照フレームより予測されており、かつ、前記隣接する2つのブロックの動きベクトルの差の絶対値が所定の閾値より小さい場合に、フィルタリングを行わないと判定することを特徴とする画像復号装置。
