Abstract
【解決手段】画像内の隣接する2つのブロックを識別し、そのブロックの境界に近接する領域を選択的にフィルタリングする。フィルタリングの強度は、ブロック間の境界に対応する境界強度が大きいほど大きくされ、境界強度は、(1)2つのブロックのいずれかがイントラ符号化されている場合に第1の値に設定され、(2)2つのブロックのいずれもがイントラ符号化されておらず、いずれかが零でない変換係数を有する場合に第2の値に設定され、(3)2つのブロックのいずれもがイントラ符号化されておらず、かつ、零でない変換係数を有しない場合であって、2つのブロックの動き補償予測に用いる参照画像が異なる場合、または、2つのブロックの動き補償予測に用いる動きベクトルの成分の差の絶対値のいずれかが所定の閾値以上の場合に第3の値に設定され、(4)それ以外の場合に第4の値に設定される。

Description
多くのビデオ圧縮規格、例えば、H.261,H.263,H.263+,MPEG−1,MPEG−2及びH.26Lでは、ブロックに基づく動き補償ビデオ符号化が用いられる。ブロックに基づく動き補償符号化は、画像圧縮技法を使用してブロック毎に画像ピクセルを符号化する。この画像圧縮技法は、通常、損失の大きい圧縮技法を用いるので、復号された画像内に画像アーティファクトと称される視覚的なアーティファクトの発生をもたらす。画像アーティファクトの1つのタイプは、ブロッキングアーティファクトであり、再構成された画像内のブロックの境界に沿って発生する。ブロッキングアーティファクトは、主に、ブロックの符号化に用いた変換係数の粗い量子化によって生じる。
従来のフィルタリングプロセスは、1度に1枚の再構成された画像フレームを検討する。ブロックに基づくビデオ画像符号化技法は、ピクセルブロックの動きを、動きベクトルを用いて推定する。動きベクトル情報は、符号化器及び復号器の双方で利用できるが、従来のフィルタリングプロセスでは使用しない。例えば、2つの隣接ブロックが、同一の参照画像フレームに関して同じ動きベクトルを共有すれば、(複数の参照フレームを備えたシステムにおいて)各ブロックの残りの画像間にはおそらく大きな差はないので、フィルタ処理をしてはならない。本来、画像の隣接部分は、同一参照フレームに対して同一の動きを有し、従って、画像残差間には有意の差は予測されない。多くの場合、これら2つの隣接ブロックの境界は、参照フレーム内においてフィルタ処理されているので、現フレームで再度フィルタ処理をしてはならない。この動きベクトル情報を考慮せずにデブロックフィルタを使用すると、従来のフィルタリングプロセスは同じ境界をフレーム毎に再度フィルタ処理することになる。この不必要なフィルタリングは、不必要なボケを生じるだけでなく、追加のフィルタ処理計算をする結果になる。
Claims (2)
- 画像を復号する復号装置であって、
画像内の隣接する2つのブロックを識別する手段と、
前記2つのブロックの境界に近接する領域の少なくとも1部分を選択的にフィルタリングする手段を備え、
前記フィルタリングの強度は、前記2つのブロック間の境界に対応する境界強度が大きいほど大きくされ、
前記境界強度は、
(1)前記2つのブロックのいずれかがイントラ符号化されている場合に第1の値に設定され、
(2)前記2つのブロックのいずれもがイントラ符号化されておらず、いずれかが零でない変換係数を有する場合に第2の値に設定され、
(3)前記2つのブロックのいずれもがイントラ符号化されておらず、かつ、零でない変換係数を有しない場合であって、前記2つのブロックの動き補償予測に用いる参照画像が異なる場合、または、前記2つのブロックの動き補償予測に用いる動きベクトルの成分の差の絶対値のいずれかが所定の閾値以上の場合に第3の値に設定され、
(4)それ以外の場合に第4の値に設定され、
前記第1の値は前記第2の値より大きく、前記第2の値は前記第3の値より大きく、前記第3の値は前記第4の値より大きいことを特徴とする復号装置。 - 画像を復号する復号方法であって、
画像内の隣接する2つのブロックを識別するステップと、
前記2つのブロックの境界に近接する領域の少なくとも1部分を選択的にフィルタリングするステップを有し
前記フィルタリングの強度は、前記2つのブロック間の境界に対応する境界強度が大きいほど大きくされ、
前記境界強度は、
(1)前記2つのブロックのいずれかがイントラ符号化されている場合に第1の値に設定され、
(2)前記2つのブロックのいずれもがイントラ符号化されておらず、いずれかが零でない変換係数を有する場合に第2の値に設定され、
(3)前記2つのブロックのいずれもがイントラ符号化されておらず、かつ、零でない変換係数を有しない場合であって、前記2つのブロックの動き補償予測に用いる参照画像が異なる場合、または、前記2つのブロックの動き補償予測に用いる動きベクトルの成分の差の絶対値のいずれかが所定の閾値以上の場合に第3の値に設定され、
(4)それ以外の場合に第4の値に設定され、
前記第1の値は前記第2の値より大きく、前記第2の値は前記第3の値より大きく、前記第3の値は前記第4の値より大きいことを特徴とする復号方法。
