Description
別の実施態様において、本発明に従って運転を制御される反応器は、スラリー重合プロセスによって重合を実施するものである。スラリー重合プロセスは一般的に1〜50atmの範囲及びそれ以上の圧力、並びに0℃〜120℃の範囲、より特定的には30℃〜100℃の範囲の温度を用いる。スラリー重合においては、液体重合希釈剤媒体にモノマー及びコモノマー並びにしばしば水素を触媒と共に添加したものの中で、固体粒状ポリマーの懸濁液を形成させる。この希釈剤を含む懸濁液は、反応器から断続的に又は連続的に取り出され、揮発性成分がポリマーから分離されて随意に蒸留後に反応器に再循環される。重合媒体中に用いられる液状希釈剤は、典型的には3〜7個の炭素原子を有するアルカン、1つの実施態様においては分岐鎖状アルカンである。用いられる媒体は、重合条件下において液状であり且つ比較的不活性であるべきである。プロパン媒体を用いる場合には、反応希釈剤の臨界温度及び臨界圧力以上においてプロセスを操作しなければならない。1つの実施態様においては、ヘキサン、イソペンタン又はイソブタン媒体を用いる。
本発明に従って制御される反応器は、1種以上の触媒を、触媒系(又はその成分)の重量を基準として10重量%までの金属−脂肪酸化合物、例えばステアリン酸アルミニウムと組み合わせて、用いることができるものである。好適であり得る別の金属には、その他の第2族及び第5〜13族金属が包含される。別の実施態様においては、金属−脂肪酸化合物の溶液を反応器中に供給する。別の実施態様においては、金属−脂肪酸化合物を触媒と混合し、反応器中に別途供給する。これらの物質は、触媒と混合してもよく、触媒系又はその成分と共に又はそれらなしで溶液状で又はスラリー状で反応器中に供給してもよい。
