Abstract
【解決手段】ピクセル1300のアレイ1310を調光するシステムは、複数のパルス幅変調(PWM)ドライバ1375とグローバルPWMドライバ1385を備えている。PWMドライバ1375の各々は、複数の行の内の1つの行内のピクセルのそれぞれに接続され、かつ、1サイクルのうちの異なるタイミングで同じ時間幅で、該複数の行のうちの1つに電流を供給する。グローバルPWMドライバは、複数の行の各行中の複数のピクセルのそれぞれに接続され、1サイクルのブランキング期間に、複数の行のそれぞれの中の複数のピクセルのそれぞれに電流を供給する。PWMドライバは、異なるタイミングで同じ長さの時間にわたって各行に電流を供給するので、均一な発光が得られる。

Description
ピクセル100は、スイッチ144、キャパシタ130及び電圧源125の正の端子(負の端子は接地される)に接続されるノード160も含む。スイッチ144は、行ドライバ110に接続され、行ドライバ110によってオン/オフされる。
したがって、従来技術の方法に関連する問題を生じることなく、ピクセルのアレイの輝度を均一に調光する装置、システム及び方法を用いることが望ましい。さらに、本発明の他の望ましい特徴及び特性は、添付の図面及び本発明のこの背景と共に考慮されると、本発明の後の詳細な説明及び添付の特許請求の範囲から明らかになるであろう。
本発明の以下の詳細な説明は実際には例示にすぎず、本発明、並びに本発明の応用形態及び用途を限定することは意図していない。さらに、上記の背景技術及び本発明の以下の詳細な説明において提示されるいかなる理論によっても限定されることは意図していない。
第2の部分期間(長いブランキング期間を表す)は、グローバル調光間隔として用いられる。グローバル調光間隔中に、ピクセル1300はそれぞれオフにされ、その後、グローバルPWM1385(たとえば、PWM685、785、885、985、1085、1185及び1285)が8.6msの第2の部分期間の少なくとも一部(たとえば、6ms)にわたって、各ピクセル1300を照明する。
Claims (3)
- 電圧源及びグランドを備えるアクティブマトリックス発光ダイオードディスプレイ(1350)上のピクセル(1300)のアレイ(1310)を調光するシステムであって、
前記電圧源と前記グランドとの間に接続される複数の行(1315)を形成する複数のピクセル(1300)と、
複数のパルス幅変調(PWM)ドライバ(1375)であって、該PWMドライバの各々が、前記複数の行の内の1つの行内の前記ピクセルのそれぞれに接続されると共に、1サイクルのうちの異なる部分の間に、該複数の行のうちの1つに電流を供給するように構成されている、複数のパルス幅変調(PWM)ドライバと、
前記複数の行の各行中の前記複数のピクセルのそれぞれに接続され、前記サイクルのブランキング期間の間に、前記複数の行のそれぞれの中の前記複数のピクセルのそれぞれに電流を供給するように構成されるグローバルPWMドライバ(1385)と
を備えることを特徴とするシステム。 - アクティブマトリックス発光ダイオード(AMLED)ディスプレイのピクセル(700)であって、
電圧源(725)とグランドとの間に接続されるように構成される発光ダイオード(LED)(705)と、
前記LEDに接続され、1サイクルの一部の期間に、前記LEDに電流を提供するように構成される第1のパルス幅変調(PWM)ドライバ(775)と、
前記LEDに接続され、前記サイクルのブランキング期間の間に、前記LEDに電流を提供するように構成される第2のPWMドライバ(785)と
を備えることを特徴とする、アクティブマトリックス発光ダイオードディスプレイのピクセル。 - アクティブマトリックス発光ダイオードディスプレイ(1350)上で複数の行を形成するピクセル(1300)のアレイ(1310)を調光する方法であって、
第1のパルス幅変調(PWM)ドライバ(1375)を介して、1サイクルの第1の部分期間にわたって、ピクセルの第1の行内の各ピクセルに電流を供給するステップと、
第2のPWMドライバ(1375)を介して、前記サイクルの第2の部分期間にわたって、ピクセルの第2の行内の各ピクセルに電流を供給するステップと、
グローバルPWMドライバ(1385)を介して、前記サイクルのブランキング期間の間に、前記第1の行内の各ピクセル及び前記第2の行内の各ピクセルに電流を供給するステップと
を含むことを特徴とする方法。
