Claims (22)

  1. 20ピコ秒と20ナノ秒の間のパルス幅と10マイクロジュール以上のパルスエネルギとを持つパルスを1kHz以上の繰り返し周期で発生するパルス光源であって
    シードパルスを作るシード光源と、
    前記シード光源から前記シードパルスを受けて1マイクロジュール以上のパルスエネルギを持つパルスを作るファイバ増幅器チェーンと、
    少なくとも一つのバルク光学素子と、を有し、
    前記ファイバ増幅器チェーンは、コア径が12マイクロメートル以上の少なくとも一つの大コア径クラッドポンプ偏光保持ファイバ増幅器を備え、
    前記バルク光学素子は、前記ファイバ増幅器チェーンで作られた前記パルスを周波数変換するパルス光源
  2. 20ピコ秒と20ナノ秒の間のパルス幅と10マイクロジュール以上の
    パルスエネルギとを持つパルスを1kHz以上の繰り返し周期で発生するパルス光源であって
    シードパルスを作るシード光源と、
    前記シード光源から前記シードパルスを受けて1マイクロジュール以上のパルスエネルギを持つパルスを作るファイバ増幅器チェーンと、
    少なくとも一つのバルク光学素子と、を有し、
    前記ファイバ増幅器チェーンは、コア径が12マイクロメートル以上の少なくとも一つの大コア径クラッドポンプ偏光保持ファイバ増幅器を備え、
    前記バルク光学素子は、前記ファイバ増幅器チェーンで作られた前記パルスを増幅するパルス光源
  3. 前記バルク光学増幅素子は、Nd:ガラス、Yb:ガラス、Nd:YLF、Nd:YVO 4 、Nd:KGW、Yb:YAG、Nd:YAG、KYW、S-FAP、YALO、YCOB及びGdCOB増幅器の一つを含む請求項2のパルス光源。
  4. 前記シード光源は、増幅された自然放出の半導体光源と増幅された自然放出のファイバベース光源の一つを含む請求項1或いは2のパルス光源。
  5. 前記シード光源は、半導体レーザ、マイクロチップレーザ及びファイバレーザの一つを含む請求項1或いは2のパルス光源。
  6. 前記ファイバ増幅器チェーンは、Nd、Yb、Er/Yb、Nd/Yb及びTmドープ増幅器ファイバの一つを備える請求項1或いは2のパルス光源。
  7. 20ピコ秒と20ナノ秒の間のパルス幅を持つパルスを発生するパルス光源であって
    所定のスペクトル幅を持つシードパルスを作るシード光源と、
    前記シードパルスを受けて10ミリジュール以上のパルスエネルギを持つパルスを作るファイバ増幅器チェーンと、を有し、
    前記ファイバ増幅器チェーンから出てくるパルスのスペクトル幅は、前記シード光源から入射される前記シードパルスのスペクトル幅より小さいパルス光源
  8. 前記増幅器チェーンで作られたパルスは、バルク光学増幅器でさらに増幅される請求項のパルス光源。
  9. 前記バルク光学増幅器は、Nd:ガラス、Yb:ガラス、Nd:YLF、Nd:YVO 4 、Nd:KGW、Yb:YAG、Nd:YAG、KYW、S-FAP、YALO、YCOB及びGdCOB増幅器を少なくとも一つ含む請求項のパルス光源。
  10. 前記増幅器チェーンで作られたパルスは、バルク光学素子で周波数変換される請求項或いはのパルス光源。
  11. 前記シード光源は、負チャープファイバ格子パルス伸長器で伸長されるシードパルスを出射するモードロックファイバレーザを含む請求項のパルス光源。
  12. 10フェムト秒と50ピコ秒の間のパルス幅を持つパルスを発生するパルス光源であって
    50ピコ秒以下の幅を持つシードパルスを作るシード光源と、
    前記シード光源で作られた前記パルスを第1所定ファクタだけ伸長するパルス伸長器と、
    前記パルス伸長器から前記伸長パルスを受けて20ナノジュール以上のパルスエネルギを持つパルスを作るファイバ増幅器チェーンと、
    前記ファイバ増幅器チェーンから放射されるパルスを第2所定ファクタだけ増幅する少なくとも一つのバルク光学増幅素子と、
    前記バルク光学増幅素子から放射されるパルスをバンド幅制限近くまで再圧縮するためのパルス圧縮器と、を有するパルス光源
  13. 前記第1所定ファクタは30に等しく、前記第2所定ファクタは2に等しい請求項12のパルス光源。
  14. 前記バルク光学増幅素子は、Nd:ガラス、Yb:ガラス、Nd:YLF、Nd:YVO 4 、Nd:KGW、Yb:YAG、Nd:YAG、KYW、S-FAP、YALO、YCOB及びGdCOB増幅器を少なくとも一つ含む請求項12のパルス光源。
  15. 前記パルス伸長器は、チャープファイバ格子に基づく請求項12のパルス光源。
  16. 前記パルス圧縮器は、少なくとも一つのグリズム(grism)素子を含む請求項12のパルス光源。
  17. さらに少なくとも一つのバルク光学素子を有し、該バルク光学素子は、前記ファイバ増幅器チェーンで作られたパルスを周波数変換する請求項12のパルス光源。
  18. レーザビーム中にレーザパルスのバーストを発生する請求項1、2、或いは12パルス光源を有するターゲット材料の処理方法であって
    前記ターゲット材料を修正或いは除去するための閾値を超えるフルーエンスを持つ前記レーザパルスのバーストを発生する工程と、
    光学部品を使って前記ターゲット材料に前記レーザパルスのバーストを供給する工程と、
    前記パルス光源からの前記レーザパルスのバーストを前記ターゲット材料に作用させる工程と、を有する方法
  19. 前記レーザパルスのバーストは、前記ターゲット材料の表面、表面の下或いは表面の上に集光される請求項18のターゲット材料の処理方法。
  20. 前記ターゲット材料は、金属或いは有機材料或いは半導体材料であり、前記ターゲット材料へのパルスの前記作用は、該ターゲット材料の表面の穴あけ、切断或いはマシニングを少なくとも含む請求項18のターゲット材料の処理方法。
  21. 前記ターゲット材料は透明材料であり、前記ターゲット材料へのパルスの前記作用は、表面の穴あけ、切断或いはマシニング或いは前記透明材料の屈折率の変更を含む表面下特性のマシンニングを少なくとも含む請求項18のターゲット材料の処理方法。
  22. 前記ターゲット材料は、生物組織であり、前記ターゲット材料へのパルスの前記作用は、該生物組織の除去、修正或いは分析を少なくとも含む請求項18のターゲット材料の処理方法。
