Abstract
Description
本発明のバックライト装置においては、前記導光手段は、前記サブ照射領域側の主面上に半透過反射部材を有することが好ましい。
Claims (8)
- 対向する一対の主面及び端面を有し、一方の前記端面に配置された光源からの光を両方の主面に導く導光手段と、前記導光手段の一方の主面側の比較的大きいメイン照射領域に対する照射と前記導光手段の他方の主面側の比較的小さいサブ照射領域に対する照射とを行うように前記光源を制御する制御手段と、を具備するバックライト装置。
- 前記制御手段は、前記メイン照射領域に対する照射及び前記サブ照射領域に対する照射のうちいずれの照射であるかのモードを選択するモード選択手段と、前記モード選択手段により選択されたモードにしたがって前記光源への電力供給を切り替える切り替え手段とを有する請求項1記載のバックライト装置。
- 前記切り替え手段は、前記メイン照射領域に対する照射の場合に、前記光源のすべてに電力を与えるように切り替え、前記サブ照射領域に対する照射の場合に、前記光源の一部に電力を与えるように切り替える請求項2記載のバックライト装置。
- 前記光源が並設された複数のLEDで構成されており、前記切り替え手段は、前記サブ照射領域に対する照射の場合に、照射の寄与度が高いLEDに電力を与える請求項2記載のバックライト装置。
- 前記照射の寄与度が高いLEDが並設された複数のLEDの中央のLEDである請求項4記載のバックライト装置。
- 前記導光手段は、両方の主面上にそれぞれ拡散手段及び等方性プリズム部材を有する請求項1記載のバックライト装置。
- 前記導光手段は、前記サブ照射領域側の主面上に半透過反射部材を有する請求項1記載のバックライト装置。
- 請求項1から請求項7のいずれかに記載のバックライト装置を備えた液晶表示装置。
