Abstract
【解決手段】カラーフィルタ26を有する液晶パネル25と、その液晶パネル25に白の光を照射するW発光ダイオード22wと、液晶パネル25に白を含む2以上の色を照射するRGB発光ダイオード22r,22g,22bと、液晶パネルの周囲の明るさを検出してその検出信号を出力する明るさ輝度センサ44と、その輝度センサ44からの検出信号に基づいてW発光ダイオード22wとRGB発光ダイオード22r,22g,22bを切り換える制御部41と、を設けた。

Claims (5)
- カラーフィルタを有する液晶パネルと、
前記液晶パネルに第1の白色光を照射する第1の光源と、
前記液晶パネルに前記第1の白色光とは異なる第2の白色光を照射する第2の光源と、
前記液晶パネルの周囲の明るさを検出してその検出信号を出力する明るさ検出手段と、
前記明るさ検出手段からの検出信号に基づいて前記第1の光源と前記第2の光源を切り換える光源制御手段と、
を設けたことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記第2の光源は、発光する色が異なる2以上の発光体の組合せであって、全ての発光体から放射される光を結合することによって白色光が生成される組合せからなることを特徴とする請求項1記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記光源制御手段は、前記明るさ検出手段からの検出信号に基づき検出された明るさ検出値を予め設定された所定の明るさ基準値と比較し、その比較結果に応じて、前記明るさ検出値が前記明るさ基準値より大であるときには前記第1の光源を発光させ、前記明るさ検出値が前記明るさ基準値より小であるときには前記第2の光源を発光させるようにしたことを特徴とする請求項1記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記明るさ検出手段は、輝度センサ及びホワイトバランスセンサの少なくとも一方を有することを特徴とする請求項1記載の液晶表示装置。
- カラーフィルタを有する液晶パネルと、前記液晶パネルに第1の白色光を照射する第1の光源と、前記液晶パネルに前記第1の白色光とは異なる第2の白色光を照射する第2の光源と、を有する液晶表示装置と、
前記液晶パネルの光の透過又は反射状態を制御してカラー表示を行う制御装置と、を備えた電子機器であって、
前記液晶表示装置には、
前記液晶パネルの周囲の明るさを検出してその検出信号を出力する明るさ検出手段と、
前記明るさ検出手段からの検出信号に基づいて前記第1の光源と前記第2の光源を切り換える光源制御手段と、
を設けたことを特徴とする電子機器。
