Abstract
【解決手段】 本発明の電気光学装置100は、光透過領域をそれぞれ備えた複数の画素120aが平面に沿って配列され、光透過領域が平面内の第1の方向に第1の配列周期PHで形成されるとともに、第1の方向と直交する平面内の第2の方向に第1の配列周期より大きい第2の配列周期PVで形成される電気光学パネル120と、電気光学パネルに光を照射するバックライト140と、電気光学パネル及び前記バックライトの間に配置され、実質的に第1の方向に沿って第1の光学的構造周期P1を有する第1の集光層162と、電気光学パネルと前記第1の集光層の間に配置され、実質的に第2の方向に沿って第2の光学的構造周期P2を有する第2の集光層164とを具備することを特徴とする。

Description
次に、上述した実施形態に係る電気光学装置を電子機器に用いた実施形態に説明する。図7は、本発明に係る電子機器の一実施形態である携帯電話機を示している。ここに示す携帯電話機1000は、複数の操作ボタン、送話口などを備えた操作部1001と、受話口などを備えた表示部1002とを有し、表示部1002の内部に上記の液晶表示装置100が組み込まれてなる。そして表示部1002の表面(内面)上に液晶表示装置100の表示面100Aを視認することができるようになっている。この場合、携帯電話機1000の内部には、上記液晶表示装置100を制御する表示制御回路などが設けられる。この表示制御回路は、液晶表示パネル120,130を駆動する公知の駆動回路(液晶ドライバ回路)に対して所定の制御信号を送り、液晶表示装置100の表示態様を決定する。
Claims (9)
- 光透過領域をそれぞれ備えた複数の画素が平面に沿って配列され、前記光透過領域が前記平面内の第1の方向に第1の配列周期で形成されるとともに、前記第1の方向と直交する前記平面内の第2の方向に前記第1の配列周期より大きい第2の配列周期で形成される電気光学パネルと、
前記電気光学パネルに光を照射するバックライトと、
前記電気光学パネル及び前記バックライトの間に配置され、実質的に前記第1の方向に沿って第1の光学的構造周期を有する第1の集光層と、
前記電気光学パネルと前記第1の集光層の間に配置され、実質的に前記第2の方向に沿って第2の光学的構造周期を有する第2の集光層と、
を具備し、
前記第1の配列周期と前記第1の光学構造周期の比は、前記第2の配列周期と前記第2の光学構造周期の比より小さいことを特徴とする電気光学装置。 - 前記第1の光学的構造周期及び前記第2の光学的構造周期は、プリズム状のパターンが周期的に配列されてなることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記第1の集光層及び前記第2の集光層は、前記第1の光学的構造周期及び前記第2の光学的構造周期の形成方向とそれぞれ直交する方向に伸びるストライプ状の光学構造を有することを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記第1の光学的構造周期は前記第1の配列周期以下であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記第2の光学的構造周期は前記第2の配列周期以下であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記第1の光学的構造周期は、前記第2の光学的構造周期より小さいことを特徴とする請求項1乃至5のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記電気光学パネルと前記第1の集光層の間には他の光学層が配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至6のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置。
- 請求項1乃至7のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置と、該電気光学装置の制御手段とを有することを特徴とする電子機器。
- 光出射面から照明光を出射する面状発光体と、
前記面状発光体の前記光出射面上に配置され、前記光出射面と実質的に平行な平面内の第1の方向に沿って第1の光学的構造周期を有する第1の集光層と、
前記第1の集光層の前記面状発光体とは反対側に配置され、前記第1の方向とは直交する前記平面内の第2の方向に沿って前記第1の光学的構造周期よりも大きい第2の光学的構造周期を有する第2の集光層と、
を具備することを特徴とする照明装置。
