４−ｎ−ブチルレゾルシノールの量の測定は、液体クロマトグラフィー（ＯＤＳカラム４．６ｍｍ×１５０ｍｍ、カラム温度３５℃、溶出溶媒；メタノール／エタノール（９９．５％）＝８／２、流速１ｍｌ／ｍｉｎ、紫外部検知 ２７５ｎｍ）にて行い、皮膚を透過してリザーバーに移行した４−ｎ−ブチルレゾルシノール、および皮膚上に残留していた４−ｎ−ブチルレゾルシノールの量を定量した。なお定量は、絶対検量線法にて行なった。
＜試験例２＞
次に、ヒトの皮膚におけるメラニン生成抑制効果を確認するために、以下のように２０名のパネラーを使用した美白試験を行った。予め、パネラーの上腕部に１．５ｃｍ×１．５ｃｍの３つの部位を設定した。設定した部位以外の部分を黒布で覆った後、紫外線を０．８ＭＥＤ照射した。照射後、設定された３つの部位のうち２つの部位に、それぞれ実施例１および比較例１の乳液の０．０５ｍｌを、朝、昼、入浴後の１日３回塗布した。残りの１部位には紫外線の照射以外の処理を行わず、陽性対照部位とした。
翌日および３日目にも同様に、紫外線を０．８ＭＥＤ照射した後、各乳液の０．０５ｍｌを朝、昼、入浴後の１日３回塗布した。
４日目に、色彩色差計（ミノルタＣＲ−２００）を用いて、設定した各部位（照射部位）とその隣接部位（非照射部位）のＬ値を測定した。各設定部位のＬ値とその隣接部位のＬ値の差を算出し、ΔＬ値とした。この結果を表２に示す。
