Abstract
【解決手段】お互い異なる多数の波長を有する多数の光が導波される入力導波路と、入力導波路を介して伝達された光を、放射状に分散する光に偏向させる光偏向器であって、第1の有効屈折率を有する周辺領域と、前記第1の有効屈折率とは異なる第2の有効屈折率を持つ所定形状の偏向パターン領域とが境界を成して構成される光偏向器と、前記偏向された光を波長ごとに分離して反射する回折格子と、前記回折格子を介して回折した光を選択して出力する出力導波路とを含み、前記放射状に分散する光は、第2の有効屈折率に応じて変わる所定の軌跡上の特定点から出発して進むことを特徴とする波長可変逆多重化器を提供する。

Description
光通信システムにおいて、様々な波長のビームを一つの位置に集束させる機能(多重化)、任意のビームを波長に応じて特定の位置に分配させる機能(逆多重化)は、WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing)を基盤とする光システムでは必須である。
最近、電子商取引、VOD、画像会議といった新しいマルチメディアの出現とHDTV、LAN、CATVなどといった従来のデータ通信の発達に伴い、情報容量が急増している。超高速情報通信網事業者は、莫大なコストと時間がかかる新規の光ファイバを設置する代わりに、既存の光ファイバの帯域幅を極大化するWDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing)伝送方式を使用することにより、伝送効率を極大化する方式を採用している
次に、図2を参照して本発明の第1実施例に係る波長可変逆多重化器を詳細に説明する。図2は本発明の第1実施例に係る波長可変逆多重化器の構成図である。
以下、図5を参照して本発明の第2実施例に係る波長可変逆多重化器について説明する。図5は本発明の第2実施例に係る配列導波路回折格子の構造を用いた波長可変逆多重化器の構造図である。
以下、図6を参照して本発明の第3実施例に係る波長可変レーザを説明する。図6は第3実施例に係る波長可変レーザの概略構成図である。

Claims (12)
- お互い異なる多数の波長を有する多数の光が導波される入力導波路と、
前記入力導波路を介して伝達された光を、放射状に分散する光に偏向させる光偏向器であって、第1の有効屈折率を有する周辺領域と、前記第1の有効屈折率とは異なる第2の有効屈折率を持つ所定形状の偏向パターン領域とが境界を成して構成される光偏向器と、
前記偏向された光を波長ごとに分離して反射する回折格子と、
前記回折格子を介して回折した光を選択して出力する出力導波路とを備え、
前記放射状に分散する光は、第2の有効屈折率に応じて変わる所定の軌跡上の特定点から出発して進むことを特徴とする波長可変逆多重化器。 - 前記光偏向器は、下部クラッド層、上部クラッド層およびコア層を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の波長可変逆多重化器。
- 前記周辺領域と所定の偏向パターン領域は各領域のコア層に印加される電流差によって区分されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の波長可変逆多重化器。
- 前記偏向された光は、前記回折格子に入射する入射角を変えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の波長可変逆多重化器。
- 前記軌跡は、円形、放物線および直線の中のいずれか一つであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の波長可変逆多重化器。
- お互い異なる波長の光が導波される入力導波路と、
前記入力導波路を介して伝達された光を、放射状に分散する光に偏向させる光偏向器を含み、前記光偏向器は第1の有効屈折率を有する周辺領域と、前記第1の有効屈折率とは異なる第2の有効屈折率を持つ所定形状の偏向パターン領域とが境界を成して構成される入力結合器と、
前記入力結合器を介して伝達された光が通過する導波路と、
前記導波路から出力された光が結合する出力結合器とを備え、
前記放射状に分散する光は、前記第2の有効屈折率に応じて変わる所定の軌跡上の特定点から出発して進むことを特徴とする波長可変逆多重化器。 - 前記所定の軌跡は、円形、放物線および直線の中のいずれか一つであることを特徴とする請求項6に記載の波長可変逆多重化器。
- 第1断面および第2断面を備える光増幅器と、
前記光増幅器に集積され、前記第1断面から放射されて出射されるビームを凹回折格子に伝達し、凹回折格子から反射されたビームを前記第2断面に受ける前記光増幅器および前記回折格子との間に位置する光偏向器であって、第1有効屈折率を有する周辺領域と、前記第1有効屈折率とは異なる第2有効屈折率を有する所定の形状の偏向パターン領域とが境界をなす光偏向器と、
前記光偏向器に連結され、前記光偏向から入射したビームの中でも特定の波長のみを前記光増幅器に帰還させる回折格子とを備え、
前記回折格子から反射された分散光は、第2有効屈折率に応じて変わる所定の軌跡上の特定点から出発して進むことを特徴とする波長可変レーザ。 - 前記光偏向器は、下部クラッド層、上部クラッド層およびコア層を含むことを特徴とする請求項8に記載の波長可変レーザ。
- 前記周辺領域と前記所定の形状の偏向パターン領域は、各領域のコア層に印加される電流差によって区分されることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の波長可変レーザ。
- 前記偏向された光の前記回折格子への入射角が変わることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の波長可変レーザ。
- 前記所定の軌跡は、円形、放物線および直線の中のいずれか一つであることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の波長可変レーザ。
