Abstract
【解決手段】 ピストン頂壁3に凹状の燃焼室5を形成し、ほぼシリンダ中心線C1上に噴口中心O1を有する燃料噴射弁の噴口20から所定の噴口角度αで前記燃焼室5に燃料を噴射する直噴式ディーゼル機関の燃焼室の形状である。かかる燃焼室形状において、燃焼室5の壁面は、燃焼室中央部に形成されると共に燃料噴霧が衝突しない斜面角度及び裾端直径D2を有する山部12と、該山部12の裾端から山部12の斜面角度より小さい角度θで外下がりに傾斜すると共に前記燃料噴霧が衝突する傾斜面部14と、該傾斜面部14の外周端から円弧状に立ち上がって燃焼室外周端に至ると共に前記燃料噴霧が衝突する受け皿部15から構成されている。

Description
本発明の目的は、無負荷運転時において、黒煙の発生量を抑制すると同時に、負荷運転時のNOx及び燃費も良好に維持できるディーゼル機関の燃焼室形状を提供することである。
(燃焼室の構成)
図1は本発明を適用した直噴式ディーゼル機関の燃焼室の拡大縦断面図であり、この図1において、シリンダブロックのシリンダライナ1内にピストン2が嵌合しており、ピストン2の頂壁3に燃焼室(キャビティ)5を形成してあり、燃焼室5の上方は、シリンダヘッド7の下面により閉塞されている。シリンダヘッド7には、シリンダ中心線C1上に噴口中心O1が位置する燃料噴射弁10が取り付けられており、噴口角度αで燃料を円錐状に噴射(噴霧)するようになっている。なお、図1のピストン2は上死点位置の状態で示してある。
図3は、圧縮比を一定とし、燃焼室深さH1に対する山部高さH2の比H2/H1の変化と、無負荷運転時の黒煙(黒煙濃度)の関係を示す図である。図3から理解できるように、上記比H2/H1が0.85〜1.00の範囲では、黒煙の発生量が最低値に抑制された状態で変化せず、上記比H2/H1が0.85から0.7へ小さくなる範囲では、黒煙の発生量は穏やかに増加するが、上記比H2/H1が0.7よりも小さくなると、黒煙の発生量は急激に増加する。したがって、上記比H2/H1の範囲を、0.7≦H2/H1≦1.0とすることにより、黒煙の発生量を許容可能な範囲に抑制でき、好ましくは、0.85≦H2/H1≦1.0の範囲にすることにより、黒煙の発生量を効果的に抑制することができるのである。

Claims (4)
- ピストン頂壁に凹状の燃焼室を形成し、ほぼシリンダ中心線上に噴口中心を有する燃料噴射弁の噴口から所定の噴口角度で前記燃焼室に燃料を噴射する直噴式ディーゼル機関の燃焼室形状において、
燃焼室の壁面は、燃焼室中央部に形成されると共に燃料噴霧が衝突しない斜面角度及び裾端直径を有する円錐状の山部と、該山部の裾端から山部の斜面角度より小さい角度で外下がりに傾斜すると共に前記燃料噴霧が衝突する傾斜面部と、該傾斜面部の外周端から円弧状に立ち上がって燃焼室外周端に至ると共に前記燃料噴霧が衝突する受け皿部から構成されている直噴式ディーゼル機関の燃焼室形状。 - 前記山部は、燃焼室深さH1に対する燃焼室底面からの山部高さH2の比H2/H1が、0.7≦H2/H1≦1.0であり、ボア径Bに対する山部頂面の直径D1の比D1/Bが、D1/B≦0.3であり、ボア径Bに対する山部の裾端の直径D2の比D2/Bが、D2/B≦0.5であることを特徴とする請求項1記載の直噴式ディーゼル機関の燃焼室形状。
- 噴口直径dに対する噴霧到達距離Lの比L/dが、150≦L/d≦250であることを特徴とする請求項1又は2記載の直噴式ディーゼル機関の燃焼室形状。
- 前記傾斜面部の斜面角度θは、0°<θ≦15°であることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載の直噴式ディーゼル機関の燃焼室形状。
