Claims (8)

  1. 固体燃料の燃焼により形成される煙道ガス中の水銀を捕捉する方法において、
    a.燃焼中に放出される水銀が、燃焼により発生される煙道ガスの流れに乗って搬送されるように、燃焼システム(14)の燃焼ゾーン内で石炭燃料(12)を燃焼させることと;
    b.固体燃料の燃焼に対して局所的なガス化装置(42)において、炭素固体燃料を部分的にガス化することにより、熱活性化炭素含有固体吸収剤及び気体状ガス化生成物を生成することと;
    を含み、前記ガス化装置は、前記燃焼システム及び煙道ガスから離され、炭素固体燃料を受けとり、該炭素固体燃料を燃焼させて、前記ガス化装置内で固体吸収剤を生成し、前記方法は更に、
    c.前記ガス化装置により生成された前記気体状ガス化生成物から前記固体吸収剤を分離し、
    d.前記ガス化装置内で生成された前記固体吸収剤は該ガス化装置から導管を通じて煙道ガスに流れ、
    e.前記熱活性化固体吸収剤を煙道ガス中及び燃料の燃焼の下流に噴射すること(26)と;
    f.前記熱活性化固体吸収剤により、水銀の少なくとも一部を吸収することと
    を含み、前記熱活性化固体吸収剤は噴射の前に気体状ガス化生成物から分離され、該気体状ガス化生成物は前記固体吸収剤の噴射の上流である前記燃焼ゾーンに噴射されることを特徴とする方法。
  2. 前記熱活性化吸収剤は、石炭、バイオマス、汚水スラッジ及び炭素を含有する廃棄生成物のうちの少なくとも1つ(40)から生成される請求項1記載の方法。
  3. 前記吸収剤は、前記燃焼システムに結合された廃棄物処理システム(28、34)の場所で生成される請求項1記載の方法。
  4. 前記吸収剤は、微粒子制御装置(28)の上流側で煙道ガス中に噴射され、前記方法は、前記微粒子制御装置(28)において、捕捉された水銀と共に前記吸収剤を回収することを更に含む請求項1記載の方法。
  5. 前記吸収剤は、微粒子制御装置(28)の下流側で煙道ガス中に噴射され、前記方法は、吸収剤回収装置(34)において、捕捉された水銀と共に前記吸収剤を回収することを更に含む請求項1記載の方法。
  6. 廃棄物処理システムにおいて、噴射された吸収剤を回収することを更に含む請求項1記載の方法。
  7. 煙道ガスから水銀を捕捉するシステムにおいて、
    石炭及び空気を受け入れるように構成され、石炭/空気噴射システムと、石炭及び空気を燃焼させるための燃焼ゾーンとを更に具備する炉又はボイラと;
    前記燃焼ゾーンで生成された煙道ガスを受け入れるように接続され、固体吸収剤噴射器と、固体吸収剤回収装置とを更に具備する廃棄物処理システムと;
    固体炭素燃料を受け入れるための入口と、固体吸収剤及びガス化ガス生成物を生成するために、前記固体炭素燃料が少なくとも部分的に内部で燃焼されるガス化チャンバとを有するガス化装置を更に具備する固体吸収剤生成装置と;
    を備え、
    前記ガス化チャンバは前記燃焼ゾーン及び該燃焼ゾーンで生成された煙道ガスから分離され、前記ガス化装置は前記固体炭素燃料を受けとり、該固体炭素燃料を燃焼させ、前記固体吸収剤を該ガス化装置内に生成し、
    前記システムは更に、前記ガス化装置と前記吸収剤噴射器との間にあり、前記固体吸収剤噴射器へ固体吸収剤を搬送する導管を備え、該導管は、前記ガス化ガス生成物から前記固体吸収剤を分離する固体セパレータを備えることを特徴とするシステム。
  8. 前記ガス化装置の排出口に結合されたサイクロンセパレータを更に具備し、前記サイクロンセパレータは、前記ガス化装置と前記固体吸収剤噴射器との間の前記導管に結合された固体吸収剤排出口と、前記ガス化装置と前記石炭/空気噴射システムとの間の前記導管に結合されたガス排出口とを有する請求項7記載のシステム。
