Abstract
【解決手段】 下クラッド層23の上面には、底面で幅が狭く、上面で幅の広い断面台形をしたコア溝25が形成されている。コア溝25内にはコア26が形成されており、コア26の上面は上クラッド層24によって封止されている。コア溝25の底面には、下クラッド層23よりも屈折率の小さな低屈折率層27が形成されており、これによって実質的なコア26と下クラッド層23との屈折率の差を大きくしている。

Claims (8)
- クラッド層内にコアが埋め込まれ、クラッド層の表面からの距離に応じてコアの幅が次第に増加又は減少する光導波路において、
前記コアの幅の狭い側の面と前記クラッド層との境界面近傍に、前記コアより屈折率の大きな又は前記クラッド層よりも屈折率の小さな屈折率調整領域が形成されていることを特徴とする光導波路。 - 前記屈折率調整領域は、前記クラッド層又は前記コアを改質することにより形成されていることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の光導波路。
- 前記屈折率調整領域は、前記コアと前記クラッド層との境界面にコア及びクラッド層と異なる材料を堆積させることにより形成されていることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の光導波路。
- 上クラッド層と下クラッド層の間にコアが埋め込まれ、クラッド層どうしの境界面からの距離に応じてコアの幅が次第に増加又は減少する光導波路において、
前記コアの幅の広い側の面といずれかの前記クラッド層との境界面近傍に、前記コアよりも屈折率が小さく、且つ、前記コアの幅の狭い側の面と接するクラッド層よりも屈折率が大きな屈折率調整領域が形成されていることを特徴とする光導波路。 - 前記屈折率調整領域は、前記コア又はコアの幅の広い側の面と接するクラッド層を改質することにより形成されていることを特徴とする、請求項4に記載の光導波路。
- 前記屈折率調整領域は、上クラッド層と下クラッド層のうちコアの幅の広い側の面と接している側のクラッド層全体であることを特徴とする、請求項4に記載の光導波路。
- 前記屈折率の小さな領域は、前記コアといずれかの前記クラッド層との境界面に当該コア及びクラッド層と異なる材料を堆積させることにより形成されていることを特徴とする、請求項4に記載の光導波路。
- クラッド層内にコアが埋め込まれ、クラッド層の表面からの距離に応じてコアの幅が次第に増加又は減少する光導波路において、
前記コアの幅の狭い側の面と前記クラッド層との境界面近傍に、周囲よりも引張応力の高い領域を形成したことを特徴とする光導波路。
