座席位置の希望条件をざっと上げると、客車等級の区別、禁煙、喫煙の区別、窓側、通路側の区別、車両の最前列、前方、中央、後方、あるいは再後方の区別、列車の号車の区別など数多くある。

従って現状の予約指定方式で、客車等級の区別、禁煙車両か喫煙可能車両、窓側/通路側の他の条件もいれた一番自分の条件に合った座席を指定するのには端末操作者が端末に表示させる空き席情報をみながら、希望の座席番号が出てくるまで何回も検索を頼むしかなく、時間と手間がかかるという問題がある。

本発明の第1の列車の座席予約システムは、列車の指定座席の予約を要求する端末と、列車の指定座席の予約状況情報が格納された予約データベース記憶部が接続された座席予約サーバとがネットワーク接続されたシステムであって、前記端末は列車に関する指定と指定座席に関する条件とを入力手段を通じ取得しこれらを座席予約サーバに送信する条件取得送信手段と、適合する空席情報を受信するとそれを表示し確認入力を受け予約指示を座席予約サーバに送信する予約指示手段とを有し、座席予約サーバは受信した条件を用い前記予約データベース記憶部の予約状況情報を検索し、適合する空席情報を要求元の端末にネットワークを通じて返信する予約検索処理手段と、前記端末からの予約指示を受け、予約状況情報の対応座席の予約を確定させる予約確定処理手段とを有し、前記条件取得送信手段が指定座席に関する条件として車両内位置区分、車両位置区分についても取得でき、前記予約検索処理手段が車両内位置区分、車両位置区分が条件に含まれればこれらも用い予約状況情報を検索し、適合する空席情報を返信することを特徴とする。
