FP)として周知の、そのような1つの表面実装集積回路パッケージング技術で
は、基板上にパッケージを置いて熱を加えるだけで、パッケージをプリント配線
板(PCB)などの回路基板に接続することができる。熱によって、パッケージ
の1つの表面上の、パッケージをボードに接続している多数の接点が融解される
。この技術により、高速で安価な自動化方式で、集積回路を回路基板に接続する
ことができる。

レンズを形成する材料を蒸着するためにスピンコーティングを使用しているが、

コートされた材料は、ソフトベイクするステップを受ける。本発明の1つの実施
形態では、マイクロレンズを形成する材料は、約3ミクロンの厚さにコーティン
グされ、約100℃の温度を使用して、例えば、110℃で540ミリセカンド
のソフトベイクのステップを受ける。ソフトベイクのステップに利用する時間及
び温度は変えることができ、またコーティング材料の厚さの関数である。この後
、図2の30で示すように、ベイクされたコーティングはフォトリソグラフィを
受ける。
本発明の1つの実施形態では、図3に示す形状になる。この場合、ブロックは、
幅が約3.5ミクロンの溝18によって互いに分離される。壁は約3ミクロンの

極めて効果的である。この光活性化材料は、黄変、透過率の損失、及び熱の不安
定性の原因であると考えられている。
本発明の1つの実施形態では、このリフローステップは、約150℃の温度、例
えば、160℃の温度を約120秒間必要とする。その結果、図3で示したブロ
ックは融解して、図4に示す形状を形成する。マイクロレンズ12は、チャネル
14で分離される。マイクロレンズ12の高さTは、本発明の1つの実施形態で
は、約2.8ミクロンであり、レンズ12の長さは約11.5ミクロンである。
