Abstract
Description

た臭気制御(odour control)を示しかつ細菌の増殖を防止する超
吸収性(superabsorbent)材料および前記材料の製造方法に関す
る。
したポリアクリレートおよびポリアクリレートがグラフト化した多糖類である。
そのような超吸収性材料の使用に関連した問題は、尿成分が引き起こす臭気であ
り、それによって、最大限の吸収容量を使い切るずっと前に超吸収性材料が不快
になってしまう。悪臭を放つ化合物はしばしばアルカリ性材料、例えばアミンな
どであることから、酸を超吸収性材料に添加して臭気制御を改良することが提案
されてきた。しかしながら、酸の使用は酸が皮膚を刺激する点で不利である。
酸セルロースおよびポリアクリル酸などを含有させた使い捨て用おむつなどが開
示されている。
酸性でアルカリを中和する化合物を超吸収性材料に混合するか或はそれと組み合
わせると向上した臭気制御を伴う超吸収性材料を生じさせることができることを
見いだした。
および乳酸などの環状エステル(2,5−ジオキソ−1,4−ジオキサン類)が
含まれる。ラクトン類には、ヒドロキシ酸、特にγ−もしくはδ−ヒドロキシ酸
の環状エステル、例えばブチロラクトン、バレロラクトン、グルコノラクトン、
グルクロノラクトン、そして他の糖酸の相当するラクトン類が含まれる。加水分
解性エステルの例は酢酸セルロースおよび酢酸澱粉である。このような非酸性化
合物はエステル、例えばアセチル化(acetylated)セルロースなどの
形態で超吸収性材料に化学結合し得る。また無水物も適切であるが、それらはラ
クチド類、ラクトン類および加水分解性エステルに比べるといくらか好適ではな
い、と言うのは、それらが加水分解に対して示す感受性があまりにも高い可能性
があるからである。それらには、カルボン酸の無水物、特にジカルボン酸または
ポリカルボン酸、例えばこはく酸、グルタル酸、マレイン酸、シトラコン酸、フ
タル酸などの環状無水物が含まれる。

下の表1に示す:

の上方にアルカリを中和する異なる4種類の物質を位置させた。このおむつにS
Uを250ml添加した。この添加後、接触電極を用いて前記不織布上の異なる
6カ所のpHを測定して、それらの値の平均を取った。その結果を表2に要約す
る。この表から前記おむつは高い緩衝能力(ポリアクリル酸の>75%がナトリ
ウム塩の形態である)を有するにも拘らず酸前駆体の加水分解によってpHが低
下することが分かるであろう。
ナプキン(Libresse)を用いて、このナプキンに含まれるCTMPの中
央部にアルカリを中和する異なる3種類の物質を位置させた。このナプキンにS
Uを15ml添加した。この尿を添加した後、接触電極を用いて不織布上の異な
る6カ所のpHを測定して、それらの値の平均を取った。その結果を下記の表3
に要約する。この表は、ラクチドを加えておいた場合にはpHが急速に低くなる
が無水(マレイン酸)を同じ量で加えておいた場合にはpHが低下する速度は遅
いが継続してpHが低下することを示している。直接的酸(クエン酸)はあまり
にも酸性である傾向がある。

各おむつにまたリポラーゼ(lipolase)100T(Novo Nord
isk)も1gづつ含有させておいた。各々の測定で接触電極を用いて前記不織
布上の異なる6カ所でおむつのpHを測定した。平均した結果を表4に示す。

- 【請求項1】 超吸収性材料であって、酸無水物、ラクチド、ラクトンおよ
び加水分解性エステルから選択される非酸性化合物を含んで成る超吸収性材料。 - 【請求項2】 前記非酸性化合物がラクチドおよびγ−もしくはδ−カルボ
ン酸のラクトンから選択される請求項1記載の超吸収性材料。 - 【請求項3】 前記非酸性化合物がラクチド、グリコリドおよびグルコノラ
クトンから選択される請求項2記載の超吸収性材料。 - 【請求項4】 前記非酸性化合物が超吸収性材料の重量を基準にして1−2
0重量%の量で存在している前請求項いずれか1項記載の超吸収性材料。 - 【請求項5】 前記非酸性化合物が超吸収性材料内に均一に割り当てられて
いる前請求項いずれか1項記載の超吸収性材料。 - 【請求項6】 前記非酸性化合物が超吸収性材料に化学結合している前請求
項いずれか1項記載の超吸収性材料。 - 【請求項7】 おむつの如き衛生品であって、前請求項いずれか1項記載の
超吸収性材料を含んで成る衛生品。
