Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.映像信号の符号化ビットレートを適応制御する画像圧縮システムのサブ− システムにおいて、 映像信号のセグメントを受け取り、所定の量子化セッティングのセットに従っ て複数の符号化データストリームを生成する符号化手段と、 前記複数の符号化データストリームを受け取り、所定の選択アルゴリズムに従 って選択符号化ストリームを生成するレート制御手段と、を具備するサブ−シス テム。 2.前記符号化手段は、各々が上記入力データセグメントを受け取り、量子化 データストリームを生成すべく上記量子化セッティングの一つに従って上記入力 データセグメントを量子化する複数の量子化器と、 各々が前記符号化データビットストリームの一つを生成すべく可変長符号化ス トリームに従って前記受け取った量子化ストリームを符号化する複数の可変長エ ンコーダと、により構成される請求項1に記載のサブ−システム。 3.前記符号化手段は、前記複数の符号化ストリームを受け取り、前記量子化 セッティングに従属するビットレートを前記複数の符号化ストリームの各々に対 応して決定するレート計測手段をさらに具備する請求項1に記載のサブ−システ ム。 4.前記レート制御手段は、前記選択符号化ストリーム生成の後に、該レート 制御手段の状態に従って、最新の前記量子化セッティングのセットを生成する更 新手段を具備する請求項1に記載のサブ−システム。 5.前記レート制御手段は、前記複数の符号化ストリーム及び前記対応するビ ットレートを受け取り、前記ビットレートに基づく所定の選択基準に従って前記 選択符号化ストリームを生成する選択手段を具備する請求項3に記載のサブ−シ ステム。 6.前記レート制御手段は、 前記選択符号化ストリームの受信結果としてのバッファステータスを有し、伝 送に備えて前記選択符号化ストリームを受け取るバッファと、 前記バッファステータスに従って最新の前記量子化セッティングのセットを生 成する更新手段と、をさらに具備する請求項5に記載のサブ−システム。 7.前記可変長符号化アルゴリズムはハフマン符号化を含む請求項2に記載の サブ−システム。 8.前記可変長符号化アルゴリズムはハフマン符号化のゼロラン−レングス符 号化を含む請求項2に記載のサブ−システム。 9.前記量子化セッティングの各々は、量子化インデックスに従って生成され た重み付けマスク関数を含むことを特徴とする請求項6に記載のサブ−システム 。 10.前記量子化インデックス及び前記ビットレートを受け取り、該量子化イ ンデックス及び前記ビットレートに従って量子化インデックス対レートのモデル を導出するモデル部をさらに具備し、 前記更新部は前記モデルのパラメータをさらに受け取り、前記モデルパラメー タに従って前記量子化セッティングの前記最新セットを生成する請求項9に記載 のサブ−システム。 11.前記モデルは指数モデルである請求項10に記載のサブ−システム。 12.前記選択手段により使用される前記所定の選択基準は、所定の目標ビッ トレートに基づいて絶対符号化レートエラーを最小化する請求項5に記載のサブ −システム。 13.画素データブロックを受け取り、前記映像信号セグメントとして前記エ ンコーダに与えられるDCT係数値ブロックを生成すべく前記画素データブロッ クに離散コサイン変換(DCT)演算を実行するプリプロセッサをさらに具備す る請求項1に記載のサブ−システム。 14.前記選択手段により使用される前記所定の選択基準は、所定の目標ビッ トレートに基づいて絶対符号化レートエラーを最小化する請求項10に記載のサ ブ−システム。 15.最新の前記目標ビットレートが目標バッファフルレベルに従ってさらに 生成される請求項14に記載のサブ−システム。 16.前記更新手段は前記モデルに従って前記量子化インデックスの最新セッ トを生成する請求項15に記載のサブ−システム。 17.一の前記量子化インデックスの最新セットは、前記最新目標ビットレー トに相応する量子化インデックスを導出することにより生成され、他の前記量子 化インデックスの最新セットは1−アンカー法に基づいて生成される請求項16 に記載のサブ−システム。 18.一の前記量子化インデックスの最新セットは、前記最新目標ビットレー トに相応する量子化インデックスを導出することにより生成され、他の前記量子 化インデックスの最新セットは2−アンカー法に基づいて生成される請求項16 に記載のサブ−システム。 19.前記映像信号はカラー映像信号である請求項1に記載のサブ−システム 。 20.前記映像信号のセグメントは、輝度及びクロミナンス成分を伴うカラー 映像信号であって、 前記輝度及びクロミナンス成分の各々は、前記量子化されたデータストリーム を生成すべく前記量子化インデックスに対応する前記複数の量子化手段により分 離して量子化され、 前記可変長符号化手段は、輝度及びクロミナンス成分の各々用に前記複数の符 号化データストリームを生成し、 前記レート計測手段は、前記輝度及びクロミナンス成分の各々用に前記符号化 ストリームの各々用の前記ビットレートを決定し、 前記モデル部は、前記量子化インデックスに基づく前記輝度及びクロミナンス 成分の各々及び前記成分の各々用の前記ビットレート用の成分モデルをさらに生 成し、 量子化インデックス対レートの前記モデルは、前記成分モデルの合成である請 求項10に記載のサブ−システム。 21.前記選択手段は、前記符号化ストリームを受け取り、所定の目標ビット レートに基づく絶対符号化レートエラーが最小となる輝度及びクロミナンス成分 の組み合わせに基づいて前記輝度及びクロミナンス成分用の選択符号化ストリー ムを生成する請求項20に記載のサブ−システム。 22.前記更新手段は、前記輝度及びクロミナンス成分の各々用の最新量子化 インデックスを生成する請求項21に記載のサブ−システム。 23.画像圧縮のために映像入力の符号化ビットレートを適応制御する方法に おいて、 複数の符号化データストリームを生成すべく所定の量子化セッティングのセッ トに従って映像セグメントを符号化するステップと、 所定の選択アルゴリズムに従って選択符号化ストリームを選択するステップと 、を具備する方法。 24.前記符号化ステップは、前記映像信号セグメントを量子化し、各々が前 記量子化セッティングの一つに従って量子化された複数の量子化ストリームを生 成する量子化ステップと、 可変長符号化アルゴリズムによって前記複数の量子化ストリームの各々を符号 化し、対応する複数の前記符号化ストリームを生成するする可変長符号化ステッ プと、を具備する請求項23に記載の方法。 25.前記選択符号化ストリームに基づく制御信号を生成するステップと、前 記制御信号に従って前記量子化セッティングを更新するステップと、をさらに具 備する請求項23に記載の方法。 26.前記複数の符号化ストリームの各々用に符号化ビットレートを決定する ステップと、 伝送に備えて前記選択符号化ストリームをバッファにストアするステップと、を さらに具備し、 前記制御信号は、前記選択ストリーム受け取り後の前記バッファの状態を示す バッファステータス信号である請求項24に記載の方法。 27.前記可変長符号化アルゴリズムはハフマン符号化を含む請求項24に記 載の方法。 28.前記可変長符号化アルゴリズムはハフマン符号化のゼロラン−レングス 符号化を含む請求項24に記載の方法。 29.前記量子化セッティングの各々は、量子化インデックスに従って生成さ れた重み付けマスク関数を含むことを特徴とする請求項26に記載の方法。 30.前記量子化インデックス及び前記符号化ビットレートに従って量子化イ ンデックス対レートのモデルを導出するステップと、 前記モデルのパラメータに従って前記量子化セッティングをさらに更新するス テップと、をさらに具備する請求項28に記載の方法。 31.前記モデルは指数モデルである請求項30に記載の方法。 32.画素データブロックを受け取り、前記映像信号セグメントとして前記エ ンコーダに与えられるDCT係数値ブロックを生成すべく前記画素データブロッ クに離散コサイン変換(DCT)演算を実行するステップをさらに具備する請求 項24に記載の方法。 33.前記可変長符号化の選択のための前記所定の選択基準は、所定の目標ビ ットレートに基づいて絶対符号化レートエラーを最小化し、 前記バッファステータスに従って前記目標ビットレートを更新するステップを さらに具備する請求項30に記載の方法。 34.前記モデルに従って前記最新目標ビットレートに対応する量子化インデ ックスを導出することで前記量子化インデックスの最新セットを生成するステッ プをさらに具備する請求項33に記載の方法。 35.前記量子化インデックスの最新セットの一つは前記最新目標ビットレー トに対応する量子化インデックスを導出することで生成され、他の量子化インデ ックスの最新セットは1−アンカー法に基づいて生成される請求項34に記載の 方法。 36.前記量子化インデックスの最新セットの一つは前記最新目標ビットレー トに対応する量子化インデックスを導出することで生成され、他の量子化インデ ックスの最新セットは1−アンカー法に基づいて生成される請求項34に記載の 方法。 37.前記映像信号入力は、輝度及びクロミナンス成分を伴うカラー信号であ って、 前記量子化ステップは、前記輝度及びクロミナンス成分を分離して量子化し、 前記可変長符号化ステップは、輝度及びクロミナンス成分の各々用に前記複数 の符号化データストリームを生成し、 前記符号化ビットレートを決定するステップは、前記輝度及びクロミナンス成 分の各々について実行され、 前記モデルを導出するステップは、前記輝度及びクロミナンス成分各々用の成 分モデルの合成モデルを導出する請求項30に記載の方法。 38.前記選択ステップは、そのレートが所定の目標ビットレートに基づく絶 対符号化レートエラーを最小化する輝度及びクロミナンス成分の組み合わせに基 づいて、前記輝度及びクロミナンス成分用の選択成分符号化ストリームを選択す る請求項37に記載の方法。 39.前記量子化セッティングを更新するステップは、前記輝度及びクロミナ ンス成分の各々用の最新量子化セッティングを生成する請求項38に記載の方法 。
