Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 (1)所定の波長を有する光放射に対して透過性の材料のコアと、コアを包囲し 、所定の波長においてコアの屈折率よりも小さい屈折率を有する材料からなるク ラディングとを具備している光導波体を有するセンサ装置であって、所定の1つ または複数の物質を吸収することができ、吸収した物質の量に依存した屈折率を 有するセンサ材料を含み、センサ材料は少なくともその屈折率が、吸収した物質 の第1の量に対応する第1の値を有するとき、光導波体からの所定の波長を有す る光放射を結合しそれによって所定の波長を有する光放射に対する導波体の透過 度を減少させることができるようにコアに十分に近接して位置されているがクラ ディング材料によりコアからは分離されているセンサ装置において、クラディン グ材料はセンサ材料の屈折率の前記第1の値と、その第1の値よりも低く、吸収 された物質の第2の量に対応するセンサ材料の屈折率の第2の値との中間値であ る所定の波長における屈折率を有することを特徴とするセンサ装置。 (2)光導波体は所定の波長において単一モードの光導波体である請求項1記載 の装置。 (3)センサ材料は親水性ポリマーであり、所定の物質は装置が湿気センサ装置 を構成するように水である請求項1または2記載の装置。 (4)親水性ポリマーがポリエチレン酸化物である請求項3記載の装置。 (5)光導波体が平らな表面を有する材料のブロック中に埋設されている光ファ イバであり、クラディングの薄くされた部分の表面は平らな表面の一部を形成し 、センサ材料は平らな表面上の層として設けられている請求項1乃至4のいずれ か1項記載の装置。 (6)センサ材料の層は少なくとも100ミクロンの厚さを有する請求項5記載 の装置。 (7)所定の波長の光放射を導波体へ発射し、導波体から背面散乱されたこのよ うな放射を受けるために導波体に結合されている光学的時間ドメイン反射計が設 けられている請求項1乃至6のいずれか1項記載の装置。 (8)それぞれ請求項1乃至6のいずれか1項に記載されている複数のセンサ装 置を具備し、それら複数のセンサ装置は、所定の波長の光放射のための単一の伝 送路に連続して含まれている光導波体を有する多重センサ装置。 (9)所定の波長の光放射を伝送路へ発射し、伝送路から背面散乱されたこのよ うな放射を受けるために伝送路に結合された光学的時間ドメイン反射計が設けら れている請求項8記載の多重センサ装置。
