Abstract

Finely divided annealed steel powder consits of =1.5, pref. 0.9-1.1% C, 1-2, pref. 1.4-1.6% Cr, 0.05, pref. 0.02% Si, 0.1 pref. 0.005% Mn, and >=1 of 0.2-1.0, pref. 0.5-0.6% Mo, 0.2-1.0, pref. 0.5-0.6% Ni, =0.3, pref. =0.2% P, =1.0, pref. 0.5-0.6% Cu with balanced Fe. The powders are used in the mfr. of gears, shafts and bearings for automobiles. The steel has good wear and shock resistance and fatigue strength. Deleterious oxides are not formed during powder prodn. and the steel can be hardened.
