Abstract

1394531 Packages PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 8 March 1973 [9 March 1972 29 Jan 1973] 11325/73 Heading B8C A unitary pallet sized load 11 is made up from individually bound vertical stacks 12a of containers 17 bound together to form the load, each stack extending the full height of the load and having an externally parallelepipedic shape, the stacks each having a tight overwrapping sleeve 20b to preserve its shape. The stacks 12a may be bound together by non-stretch nylon straps 13 with corner protectors 14, or an adhesive tape along the vertical joints (Fig. 1). Overall shrink-wrapping may be used. Wrappers 20b may have tear tabs 33 to permit exposure of price markings 19 without opening the stack 12a. Underlying stiffeners 35 are provided on the front faces F of each stack together with end pieces 23 having handles 31. Each layer of containers 17 is held in an open-top tray 18. Containers such as bottles may be made in to the stacks 12a by the use of spacer trays perforated to receive the bases of the bottles with a preformed sleeve which slips over the stack of trays and is tightly sealed to the ends.
