Abstract

A voltage dependent resistor of the surface barrier type. A sintered body consisting essentially of, as a major part, zinc oxide (ZnO) and 0.05 to 10.0 mole percent of, as an additive, beryllium oxide (BeO), has electrodes in contact therewith. At least one of the electrodes is in non-ohmic contact with the body. The body can have minor amounts of further additives such as nickel oxide, titanium oxide, barium oxide, stannic oxide, aluminum oxide, lead oxide, cadmium fluoride and thallium oxide. [US3689863A]
