Abstract
1,261,431. Partition walls; door and window frames. ERNST LUST K.G. 8 Jan., 1969 [20 Jan., 1968], No. 1126/69. Headings E1J and E1W. A dismantleable partition wall is formed by cladding panels detachably secured to a framework comprising a ceiling strip, a floor strip and hollow metal posts 1 of rectangular or square cross section engaging at their ends with these strips so that the posts are prevented from moving out of the plane of the wall, lateral movement in the plane of the wall being prevented solely by their connection to the cladding panels such as 17 and frictional engagement with the floor and ceiling strips, the posts having fastening means 10 (e.g. snap fastener ribs) on at least two opposite sides as shown at the right of Fig. 3a whereby two cladding panels are secured to each opposite side of the post, the panels being detachable from or securable to the posts without pivoting by applying a force away from or towards the plane of the wall. As a modification, at least one composite structure post as shown at the left of Fig. 3a is employed comprising a central metal post 1, two opposed cover mouldings 14 and elongate profiled members 15 each provided with fastening means 10. In a further modification (Fig. 5 not shown), one of the mouldings 14 is omitted and is replaced by two further cladding panels extending at right angles to the panels fastened to the profiled members 15 which abut partially on these further panels. The floor and ceiling strips may be the same as profiled members 15 (Fig. 6) into recesses 11' of which the web 48 of a U-section yoke 46 fits, the limbs 47 engaging similar recesses 11' in the posts 1, a resilient packing 15a or a shaped rigid member (Fig. 4 not shown) being provided between the profiled members and floor or ceiling. As an alternative the ceiling strip may be a plate spring loaded against the top of the posts. The openings between the posts may be covered on each side either by a single cladding panel which may be opaque as at 17, the space between opaque panels being optionally filled with insulating material, or may be glazed twopart frames 20, 21; or it may be divided into sub-panels of different kinds (Figs. 2 and 4 not shown). If the panels are horizontally divided horizontal members of the same form as the posts 1 are used secured to the vertical posts by yokes 46. Skirting strips 49 may be provided to screen the floor strips and T- sections pieces 50 may separate the panels and skirting. The partition wall may also include a solid door 28 (see also Fig. 3b, not shown) hinged to a hollow metal door post and closing onto a similar door post 25, both posts being provided with door seals 26 and cover strips 30.
