Abstract

999,785. Rolling. G. K. N. SCREWS & FASTENERS Ltd. Dec. 21, 1962 [Dec. 1, 1961], No. 42986/61. Heading B3M. Apparatus for rolling coarse pitch screws comprises a pair of cooperating die rolls 10 and 11, the roll 10 having a constant section A-A formed by grooves 13 separated by ribs 14 having shallow grooves 15, while the roll 11 has a constant cross-section B-B of grooves 17 separated by flat-topped ribs 18. For screws of coarser pitch, the roll 11 varies in cross-section from a section A-A at the start of rolling to a section B-B at the finish. Three rolls can be used, two having a constant crosssection A-A and the other a constant crosssection B-B. Specification 985,304 is referred to.
