Abstract

999,490. Priming I.C. engines. C.A.V. Ltd. May 12, 1964 [May 24, 1963], No. 20771/63. Heading F1K. [Also in Division F2] In a starting device for mounting on an I.C. engine air intake manifold, having a casing 1 surrounding a tube 3 in which a stem 11 closes a seating 10, the inlet portion of the tube fits closely within the bore of a casing part 2 and has its splayed end 4 clamped by an apertured cap 6 whilst the seating 10 is formed by a rib pressed inwardly from the wall of the tube. One end of the coil 7 is clamped to the casing and the other end is connected to a terminal post 8 carried by an insulating bush 9. Stem 11 and tube 3 have different coefficients of thermal expansion, stem 11 being secured by clinching of the tube end. When heated, the stem moves away from the seating 10 to admit liquid fuel to the inlet manifold.
