Abstract

997,764. Hydraulic apparatus. THRINGS EXPERIMENTAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. June 23, 1964 [June 29, 1963; Sept. 5, 1963], Nos. 25927/63 and 35031/63. Heading F1P. [Also in Division F4] A ladle-tilting valve 27 comprises a ram 24 with a piston 33 in a cylinder 25, and a block 28 having a central bore accommodating a rod 29 attached at 30 to the ram 24, and bores 34 and 35 parallel to the central bore. The bores 34 and 35 communicate with the central bore via transverse passages 37 and 38, the latter having graded orifices 39. The rod 29 has a neck 32 level with the piston 33 of the ram 24 so that as the rod moves up, the neck uncovers the passages 37 and 38 and fluid flows from the bore 34, which is connected to a pressure pump, to the bore 35 and hence to the cylinder 25 via a pipe 40.
