Abstract

1,060,562. Hydraulic jacks. DOWTY HYDRAULIC UNITS Ltd. Jan. 22, 1965 [Feb. 4, 1964], No. 4717/64. Heading B8J. A double-acting hydraulic jack comprises a cylinder 12, a piston 13 provided with seals 14, 15, attached to a piston-rod 16 projecting through a member 17 and to which is attached a trunnion ring 23. The head member 25 of the cylinder has a bore 26 accommodating a pin 27 provided with bores 28, 34. To extend the jack, pressure liquid is supplied to the bore 28 through a connection 29, whilst the bore 34 and connection 35 are placed in communication with drain. The liquid passes from the bore 28 via annulus 31 into channel 32 and chamber 33 to operate the piston, the chamber 46 to the right of the piston being in communication with drain through ports 24, tube 39 secured in the cylinder head 25, channel 38, port 36 and bore 34. To retract the jack, pressure liquid is supplied through the connection 35, whilst the connection 29 is placed in communication with drain.
