997,345. Laminates; moulding mats. A.G.A. ARTICOLA GOMMA AFFINI S.p.A. March 7, 1962 [March 18, 1961], No. 8706/62. Headings B5A and B5N. Mats, formed from pile fabric supported by a layer of rubber which penetrates the interstices of the fabric, are prepared by placing the fabric in a seating formed in the surface of a preheated vacuum mould of a depth equal to the thickness of the pile, placing a layer of unvulcanized rubber on the fabric, applying a vacuum to draw the rubber into the fabric and heating to vulcanize the rubber. The mould is preheated to a temperature below that required to vulcanize the rubber. Fig. 4 shows a partially filled mould with seating 5 in which fabric layer 1 is covered with rubber layer 2.
