Abstract

A hollow mould for use in slush moulding hollow articles of rubber latex, polyvinyl plastisol, or a thermosetting resin, has a thin metal wall the outer surface of which has areas varying from highly polished to dull and totally anodized so that when the mould is heated externally by radiant heat to gel the layer of moulding material on the inner surface of the mould, the thickness of the resulting gelled layer is varied in a desired manner. Additionally the mould wall may be thicker at the dull areas to increase further the heat transferred to the moulding material thus increasing further the thickness of the gelled layer at those areas.
