Abstract

In order to form moulded sponge rubber articles with a porous surface, the moulding surfaces are formed with several shallow recesses. The recesses may be formed in a removable die; and may be formed in the die or in the mould by impressing a fabric on the surface of the mould or die during the moulding thereof. Similar recesses may be made by machining or chemical action.
