997,123. Disc brakes. H. TEVES, E. A. TEVES, and M. TAUSEND, [trading as TEVES MASCHINEN - UND - ARMATURENFABRIK KOMM.-GES.]. March 13, 1963 [March 26, 19621, No. 9951/63. Heading F2E. In a spot-type vehicle friction disc brake, resilient means restoring a brake lever 5 on brake release comprises circular cross-sectioned resilient material rings 8 compressed between opposed surfaces of the lever and elements rotatable therewith and of pivot lugs 7 on the brake housing, the rings becoming elastically deformed during pivotal movement of the lever and sliding on said surfaces only after a predetermined amount of said movement. Thus the degree of restoration of the brake pads corresponds to the elastic deformation of the rings, and pad wear corresponds to the sliding of the rings. The rings 8 are disposed in grooves is surfaces 10, 11 of the lever and the lugs, the grooves being of less depth than the ring thickness. A nut 12 on a threaded pivot shaft 6, with which the lever is rotatable, adjustably compresses the rings through washers 13, 14 non-rotatable on the shaft 6. The lever 5 is actuated by a cylinder 3 through a lever 4.
