[Also in Division F4] In the chocolate tempering apparatus of the parent Specification the heating wire for adjusting the temperature in the tempering zone is dispensed with and an additional connection is established from the condenser part of the refrigerator to the vapourizer part and the correct quantity of fluid for compensating the excess cold in the tempering zone is supplied therethrough. Valve 22 in connecting duct 20 is controlled by switch thermometer 14 at the outlet of the tempering zone and opens if the tempering temperature drops. Hot gas flows into liquid duct 23 so that the liquified working medium of the refrigerator partly evaporates. The cooling output drops and the temperature of the chocolate composition in the tempering worm 12 rises. Water bath 24 serves as an insulating jacket and when refrigerator 7 is switched off serves to heat the tempering worm. The cooling output of the refrigerator is greater than that required for cooling to the tempering temperature.
