A device for indicating delivery of a letter or other like matter in a letter box comprises a two-position indicator visible through a window 26 which is moved from the position shown to a positive position by energization of a solenoid 33 when a letter box 37 into contact with either contact 42 or 43, the circuit of the indicating device being connected by leads 46, 47 into the circuit of a door bell 22. The lead 47 includes a resistance 45 of a value such that the current flowing in the circuits when switch 36 is closed is sufficient to operate the indicator but inslfficient to operate the bell 22.
