Air squeegee apparatus for removing excess water from photographic film is mounted at the inlet of a chamber 3 supplied with air from means (not shown), and comprises a floating cylinder 4 freely movable in a recess 5 of the chamber wall, a fixed cylinder 6 which makes contact with the cylinder 4 and blocks the passage through the squeegee when no air is fed to the chamber and one or more bleed holes 7 through which the air can escape above the cylinder 4. In operation the velocity difference between the air passing under roller 4 and air escaping through the holes 7 creates a pressure difference sufficient to balance the weight of the cylinder. A squeegee of this type may be-also mounted at the outlet of the chamber and the floating cylinder may be flanged to permit air to escape over the top of the cylinder.
