Abstract

The invention provides a process in which stabilized azo dye mixtures are applied to the material with an assistant NN-diethyl-N-hydroxyethyl amine salt of lactic acid. The dyeing is developed by a dry heat process. The stabilized azo dye mixtures contain a diazoamino compound which splits up during the development to yield the diazo compound to couple with the coupling agent, the diazoamino compound may be any of those which are normally developed by neutral or acidic development processes. The dry heating process is effected at 120-200 DEG C. the assistant preferably used as 0.5-5% by weight of the printing paste may be added at any stage before development, the paste used generally has an alkaline pH. Specifications 729,156, 729,157, 729,158, 762,269, 766,609, 766,730, 771,812, 778,928, 785,613, 788,689, 795,339, 808,262, 811,221, 811,232, 821,926, 829,570 and 843,241 are referred to.
