Abstract

Cupriferous dyeings of direct azo-dyestuffs are discharged with the aid of sulphoxylates and, after steaming, the discharge prints are treated with an aqueous solution of ammonia or a basic amine, e.g. mono-, di- or tri-ethanolamine or cyclohexylamine. The discharge may be coloured. In examples: (1) cotton sateen dyed with Coprantine Blue GLL and after-coppered is printed with the following discharge pastes-(a) Ciba Scarlet G double plaste extra, potassium carbonate thickening and sodium formaldehyde-sulphoxylate solution and (b) sodium formaldehyde - sulphoxylate, neutral thickening, glycerine, potassium carbonate, discharge salt Ciba W and anthraquinone-and then dried, steamed and treated with a solution of ammonia or mono-, di- or tri-ethanolamine; (2) cotton sateen which is dyed with Chlorantine Fast Rubine RNLL and may be after-treated with the quaternary ammonium compound from dimethyl sulphate and 4-dimethylamino-1-stearylamino-benzene, is printed with discharge colour (b) above, steamed and treated with aqueous ammonia; (3) staple fibre sateen dyed with Diamine Brown B and after-coppered is printed with a paste containing Ciba Blue 2B and sodium formaldehyde-sulphoxylate and also with discharge colour (b) above, and finished as in (1); (4) cotton sateen dyed with Cotton Blue N and after-coppered is boiled with a reaction product of formaldehyde and cyanamide, copper sulphate and acetic acid, printed with discharge colour (b), steamed and treated with ammonia solution; (5) staple fibre fabric dyed with Diamine Brown B and after-treated with potassium dichromate, copper sulphate and acetic acid is printed with discharge colour (b), steamed and treated with ammonia; and (6) cotton sateen dyed with Coprantine Brown 5RLL and after-coppered is printed with the colour paste (b), steamed and treated with aqueous cyclohexylamine.
